Wavy hair

Question Posted Thursday July 6 2006, 11:35 pm

so my hair is super curly and frizzy.
i straighten it most days beacuse i dont want/like to wear it how it naturally curls. i think it looks bad. i have about shoulder length light brown hair.

my question is how do i get my hair to be wavy. like pretty waves. not super tight curls, but not straihgt. in between.

steps would be much apprciated.

My hair is naturally straight so I like to wave my hair this way. Since you don't have straight hair like me, i would suggest to blow dry it straight first but put a little water so it's damp. After you have damp, straight hair make around 4-5 buns and spray spray-gel (I use Pantene Pro-V) on each bun. Wait for it to dry completely and undo the buns. You might have to seperate them because they'll stick together a little. I like this look and so do other people because they're pretty, beachy waves and they're very easy to do. Hope I helped!

My hair is just like yours..

On most days that I want to wear it curly,
the night before i wash it and leave it really wet. I then put it in a bun on top of my head and sleep like that. When i take it down my hair is curlier, and then I take jell, mousse, and hairspray to it.

1st. I use the jell and scrunch my hair up to the top of my head.
2nd. Then I take the mousse and i run it through the curls and let put it in another bun.
3rd. After about 2 mins I take my hair down and hairspray my whole head.

This should get you the curls you want.

I have the same problem as you, as my hair is very curly and then goes frizzy.
When I've washed my hair, i brush it, then put it into a plait until it dries. When it's dried, the curls are bigger and more wavy like. I then put mousse on and scrunch. If it's still too curly for your liking, run the straighteners through it a few times, making sure to keep in the waves. Then finish off with a bit more mousse.
If you want a more professional glammed up look, straighten your hair and then put mousse on and scrunch. Or, straighten your hair and put curlers in or use curling tongs to make it cute and wavy :) That takes a bit of time though.
Seeing as everyones hair is different, experiment a little and see which one is right for you. Happy styling! :)

my hair is wavy, super thick, and layered. i also straighten it and its about 3 inches below my shoulder.

take a shower and make sure you get all the tangles out in the shower because you cant brush it afterwards. then run through a product through your hair, i use garnier fructis frizz reducer and DONT brush your hair. then scrunch up your hair after. ive never used the braid technique it seems to hold during the night just fine. in teh morning test a small patch of hair and brush it, if the brusing takes out all of the waves dont brush it and just run your fingers through it so its untangeled.

If you take a shower about an hour before you go to bed and sleep with your hair in damp/wet braids that might work. Just take out the braids in the morning and your hair (hopefully will be dry, it depends on how thick your hair is and how warm your room is) should be wavy, just make sure you dont brush them.

Also you could try products and shampoos/conditioners to get rid of the frizz. I'm not sure of a good brand but I'm sure someone will mention something that worked for them.

Good luck! :)

my hair is the exact same way!

try puting muse(sp?) or gel in your hair at night when you get out of the shower ( but not a lot...just a dime size sploosh on your palm). make sure you run it threw your hair really good...then brush through your hair and put it into a braid (not a tight one...or you will have that head line) sleep w/ your hair like that...and then when you get up lightly blowdry it on a low setting and a low heat. then take your braid out and ...tada! it should work!
