rainy days

Question Posted Monday June 26 2006, 11:30 pm

how can i get motivated to excercise on rainy days? I do not have any excersize equiptment in my house, and on sunny days i like to go for a jog, a walk, or bike ride. On rainy days however, I am either too lazy, or don't know how to excersize indoors. Any suggestions?

As corny as it sounds, seeking out an exercise video to work out with indoors will probably help. Anything from generic aerobics to Pilates will do you some good. I'd recommend shopping around and finding what sorts of indoor exercises fit you and your personal goals. As far as motivation to exercise in the rain, try investing in workout clothes that are designed for bad weather. You may end up enjoying the rainy day jog if you like the clothes you're wearing.

id just be cool with the fact that you can get cut a break on rainy days. ive never heard that youre supposed to excersise every day- so i doubt that a rainy day or two will really kill you- your progress wont be behind at all from missing just one day.

running in the rain is FUN! it's like a rush. but if you're too lazy or don't feel like it, do some strength training with maybe some hand weights, try tae bo on tape, do sit-up, crunches, push-ups-stuff like that. <3

Jump roping is SO good for you. 10 minutes of rope-skipping is said to burn as much calories as you would running a mile. You can even change it up, double skip, move the rope backwards, knee-up, etc.

Do you know about DDR?

Also, YOGA!

You don't need much to excercise inside. Pick a time and stick to it. For me, it is easier in front of a TV or with music blasting. Anything so I'm not just excercising. Start with a good long stretch and then go to muscle strengthening. Do maybe 30 crunches (I have no idea have fit you are) and for push ups, do 30 at a time, then rest, then do 25, then rest for a few seconds, then do 20 and rest, 15 and rest, 10 and rest, 5 and rest, and you're done. Jumping jacks are also good to get your heart pounding, do anywhere between 50 and 100. For the main thing, you can either jog in place, run up and down your stairs, or crank up some music and dance. There are also some good videos (are cheesey as they sound) that take you step by step through arebocis or dances. Have fun!
