Ashley Parker Angel
Well, I love the guy. I watched his recent show on MTV & just fell in love with him. He is so genuinely sweet & has worked so hard to get where he is & he deserves every single bit of it! Problem is: None of my friends like him. Half of them make fun of the fact that I like him/his music. Some of the comments include, "That pussy from O-Town?", "Oh, the boy with a girl name?" Yeah, umm so what. Honestly, I'm getting fed up with it. I can't prove to every single one of them how down to earth & nice he is, so what am I to do? Do I say something to them about it, or just let it go? It's getting irritating now. I've never liked O-Town, but since Ashley came out solo I've just loved his work. My friends, and basically everyone in my school dislike him. But it sucks cause when I go to his concert/meet and greets I have to take my mom, which I'd much rather go to with a friend, but I can't..cause none of my friends like him! Ahh, what to do!?

There isn't much advice I can give you accept to find a friend that does like him. Not everyone is going to hate him. It kind of sounds like people are just jumping on the band wagon. "One person says they don't like him, so automatically everyone hates him because 'it's the cool thing to do'" :PUKES:

If you like him, but no one else does. Who cares! Just be true to yourself, like what you want. don't let others influence you. I had a problem similar to this once and I just repleid to my friends like, "Whatever, think what you want." Everyone has their own opinions, so don't let THEIRS influence YOURS.

short and sweet: stay true to what you like- no matter how good of friends you are with them- chances are- by the time youre out of school- you probably wont ever talk to them or see them. theyre opinion should mean diddly- squat to you.

You shouldn't care what your friends think, If they don't like him, that's not your problem, If they were really your true true friends too, they would apprectiate and accept the fact that you have a different interest than them. Just let go of all their remarks, Don't worry about it, and with the concert, well, i'm sure that you could find someone you know that may like him remotely, and if not, what wrong with having to go with your mom, Bond with eachother. If that is embarassing for you as i know it can be for many girls in their early teens, than talk to your friends and try to get them to understand, I'm sure if one is your true friend, than at least one of them will go with you to support your interests. Who knows, they may end up liking the concert.

if your friends are being so immature about it, then avoid the subject when you're around them. if they tease you about it, then try to ignore them because when they stop getting the desired reaction, people normally stop teasing. or you can just tell them that you don't want to talk about it if they can't be more mature about accepting your interests. find some people who do like ashley and then maybe you could make more friends with a common interest? with whom you're not afraid to talk about it. or you can just find some chats online with his fans.
just remember - taste can't be argued. people like different things, and something that one person loves can be dispised or misunderstood by another person, even their friend. i'm sure that your friends have interests that you don't necessarily appretiate, you can point that out to them.

ok well i LOVE him 2 and imm goin to hic concert in july. just be to your friends ok look i like it and you dont i understand. but honestly they shouldn't be makin fun of him cuz u like him. and his concerts are with ashlee simpson so if they like her maybe they can come along too?
