kristen22 answered Thursday June 22 2006, 7:02 pm: Soreness at the corners of the mouth can be due to a variety of causes including fungal, viral or bacterial infections and possibly hypersensitivity to some mouth bacteria.
Occasionally soreness at the corner of the lips is due to lack of iron or B group vitamins and it is worth ensuring your diet is rich in these. You may also find a vitamin and mineral supplement helpful
The most common cause of cracks at the lip corners is a fungal infection and you can buy a pleasant, orange-flavoured gel in pharmacies (Daktarin oral gel) to help clear this up. [ kristen22's advice column | Ask kristen22 A Question ]
