I get lots of people who are concerned when they first come to me about losing in a specific bodypart and usually when Iam done training them, I get to instill a sense of health over appearance which Iam always striving to do. This is what I want to get you guys used to is being healthy and making good health choices over just working out to look better and finding it to be a chore.
Try all different kinds of training whether its aerobic, weight, aquatic, Pilates, or whatever it is and find your niche because no matter how long we train we all have different styles that are unique to us since we all have different outlooks and motivations. You need to enjoy what you're doing and strive to do better today than you did yesterday and part of that is just experimenting and finding exactly what you can stick to and not find a chore. The appearance comes later on down the road...believe me. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]

Mr.Advice1120 answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 5:40 pm: Hey, so u want to lose some pounds. Well i would have to suggest exercise. Exercise is a very important element in losing weight. Not only that but it will keep you healthy. As far as i know stay away from a lot of carbs. The reason being is because carbs turn into surgar. I mean dont go crazy but just try not to eat as many. Also, try not to eat about 2 to 4 hours before goin to bed. Because then you wont be doin anything to burn the fat and calories. Also, make sure you eat your three meals a day and dont have to many snacks. Ummm....if you want to get dedicated maybe u should buy a new bikini and everytime you look at you'll think of losing some weight. =]
If this has helped you in the least bit please e-mail me. Just go to my column. =]

For one, i'd stay away from doing sit ups and crunches. I have nothing against them, but they will build up muscle in stomach, making your problem area bigger rather than smaller. Instead, you want to do exercises that lengthen your muscles. Here are two that show results rather quickly and are easy to do.
- Windshield Wipers
Lay on your back with your hips, back, and
head against the floor. Raise your legs so
they are sticking straight up in the air,
and move them from one side of your body to
the other (aka, touch them to the floor on
your left side, then to the floor on your
right side, but make sure they don't come
slamming down, this defeats the purose of
the move) making sure to keep straight
legs. If this is too challenging you can
bend your legs to modify the move. This move
will elongate your obliques, and really tone
your stomach.
- Leg lifters.
Start in the same position as the previous
move, and touch your legs to the floor and
raise them up again. Again, make sure your
legs are straight (and even better that your
toes are pointed, it makes it harder and
therefore burns more calories.) You should
feel your lower stomach and thighs start to
burn.
