How long does it usually take to tan? I`m have fairly pale skin and I do burn, but I tan also. If I stay out for about an hour, nothing happens, but if I stay out for much longer I get burned!?
Jenn_2 answered Tuesday June 20 2006, 8:50 pm: There's no set time on how it takes to tan. If you burn pretty easy but you want to tan, I'd do a sunscreen with an spf 30. A really great way to tan is to go in some water like a pool or a lake. Because with your reflection in the water, you actually get a lot more tan! good luck with your tanning! I don't suggest tanning beds, but you could do that to get darker. Either use sprays or just lay out for a couple of hours & see what happens. Gradually you will get darker. LiLmissMelanie answered Monday June 19 2006, 9:24 pm: ok..if you like regular tanning, for instance..in the sun laying out, then what you should do id put this tanning lotion on, and while you lay out in the sun, it should turn your skin a deeper color. at the same time, as protecting your skin for burning. if you don't like this, or it doesn't work, you can always go to tanning booths, and get spray tans. but i REALLY do not suggest the tanning beds. you can easily get skin cancer from those. trust me. i had a really good friend of mine go to the tanning beds once a month, and she ended up getting skin cancer and dieing...
jammy12 answered Monday June 19 2006, 8:28 pm: well maybe you should try staying the hour about 2 times a week. Or if not try a spray on tan or use tanning oil... [ jammy12's advice column | Ask jammy12 A Question ]
xomegaroni answered Monday June 19 2006, 8:17 pm: depending where you live, it can take a few periods of tanning. like tan for an hour er two a day (safely), a few times a week. it definately doesn't take once er twice. you shouldn't go to tanning beds. they're really bad for you. also, you get a much faster tan if you swim first & then get out & tan. my bf told me that you should be wet when you tan & eat carrots before, because it makes your skin color darker. to prevent yourself from burning, you might want to use a light suntan lotion. also, you can do it in rounds sort've. don't stay in one spot for too long & don't lay straight out for a long time. try switching back & forth.
LoveNJstyle answered Monday June 19 2006, 8:16 pm: whatever you do, wear sunscreen. I tan easily but i've noticed that i get a better color (sometimes faster?) if i wear it cuz when i dont it's redder even if it's not a burn. water attracts sunlight... and stay hydrated too. stay out for about and hour..not much longer. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
