If you can get allergy testing and treatment this could be a longer term remedy.
If all this does not help, possibly the only thing you can do is to find a family without a cat. The problem with allergies is that they tend to get worse if you try to ignore them, so you do need to think about doing something about this.
Best of luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]

mmmmmmm answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 10:48 am: you could make an appointment with an allergist. i am allergic to cats as well and i got medicine from my allergist. i can be around cats with no problems what so ever now.
if you do not have the time/money to do that, you could always get over the counter allergy medicine. ask the pharmacist for help!
Tulipg17 answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 7:46 am: Take a non drowsey allergy medication before you head over there, ask if you can keep the cat in another room, and try to do as many activities as possible outdoors (it IS summertime). Besides this, there isn't much you can do. Some people are severly allergic and cannot be around cats at all, but others have more mild allergies that canbe controlled. No im totally kidding.
But you should tell the cat-owners that you're allergic and ask if they could keep the cat in one part of the house while you babysit in another. Or if it's an indoor/outdoor cat you can jsut leave it's food out there.

adrifacee answered Monday June 12 2006, 10:46 pm: Get allergie medicine prescribed by your doctor!
Or find another house you can babysit for and explain to the 1st house that you have cat allergies and its not possible to for you to babysit for them anymore.
