Hi, well I've just start used tampons, and I'm still on my first one. It's been very well over 8 hours, and when I try to pull it out, it hurts. I'm doing it slowly, but it doesn't really budge. Also note that it is an expanding tampon. So is it a good idea to try to fill it up with water? And is it supposed to hurt a whole lot for the first time you remove it?

If it hurts going in or coming out, you either put it in wrong or your flow isn't heavy enuogh for the tampon.
Don't use them on light flow days or when you think you might be getting your period.
No water! Never put anything on the tampon that you think will help it go in or come out easier.
Last thing? I don't ever leave them in for the 8 hours that the packages say you can. To me that's far too long. I change them whenever I go to the bathroom and sometimes more frequently than that, depending on my flow for that day.
Honestly, it may be embarrassing but let your Mom know what's going on.
I hope you have an easier time of it in the future!
BlahBlahBlah answered Tuesday June 6 2006, 6:18 pm: it shouldnt hurt! i would tell your mom, or someone, because you shouldnt have one in for that long. Try to just pull, using light force, it should come out, and not hurt. [ BlahBlahBlah's advice column | Ask BlahBlahBlah A Question ]
TurrrrrrtleMolly answered Tuesday June 6 2006, 6:16 pm: Well, I dont think its supposed to hurt that bad. It is supposed to feel just a tad uncomfortable durring the first uses of tampons. First, you should relax when taking it out. You can also try buying smaller sizes and non-expandable ones. Also use lubricating gel. Rub it on the tampon before you put it in and that might make it more slippery. That might help! [ TurrrrrrtleMolly's advice column | Ask TurrrrrrtleMolly A Question ]
clearlypink428 answered Tuesday June 6 2006, 5:53 pm: no, it shouldnt hurt at all. it may be that in all truthfulnes- its a little tight down there. other than that- its just your body reacting to a foreign object being down there. as much s it hurts though- youve got to get it out because 8 hours is well over the time recommended for use. Yourmama answered Tuesday June 6 2006, 5:52 pm: Hello, sometimes if your flow is not a lot it can be difficult to remove a tampon however it's not impossible or terribly painful.
It's important to change the tampon at least every 8 hours.
Do not fill it with water.Nope, won't be cool.
