I don't want to hurt him........

Question Posted Monday June 5 2006, 6:30 pm

So, I have this boyfriend of 4 months. But now I want to break it off. But I just don't know what to say. I really don't want to hurt him, but.....idk. I'm also scared that he might do something stupid, because that's just the type of person he is. And he's toally obessed with me and clingy. It's annoying. I know that's mean but it's true. Anyone have anything I can say, because I suck at breaking up with guys, I just don't know what to say or how to say it. Sorry for the stupid question 5's for helpful answers.

I was on the other side of this recently. take it from me, honesty is the best policy. be gentle about it, but don't make up excuses.

Hi there, this is quite a tricky one. If you want to break it off with him just do it gently and calmly and be very gentle. Theres only one thing that you can do and thats to tell him upfront. The longer you leave it, the worst you will feel about telling him. Daniel.

Be honest and say you don't think you are as compatible as an exclusive couple. Stick to your guns and keep saying the exact same answer. if he's as obsessed and clingy as you say then nothing's gonna truly get through to him anyhow. But you will know that you were straight up.

aww i know what you mean. do it personally, over the phone and internet is pretty lame, so do it face to face and just tell him the honest truth, maybe hes getting too serious about you and you arent really ready to settle down you know? but tell him you still want to be friends [[if you still do, dont say it if you dont want to]] it probably will hurt the guys feelings but he will eventually get over it and move on. hope i helped, drop one in my inbox if you need anything else.=)

You can always tell him that you don't think that the relationship is going to work out. It's not him, it's you. You don't feel the way about him, like he feels about you but you would still like to be friends.
How is that?

Maybe you should try telling him he's annoying. have a friend that will break the two of you up. if you still think he's gonna do something stupid, then you should just deal with it because you're the one that wants to break it off and move on. And that's good that you're not gonna waste your time on a guy that is too clingy and is kinda annyoing to you and even though you dont want to hurt him, it'll probly happen because someone always get their feelings hurt in a break-up..good luck trying not to hurt him and hope i helped
