So i went to the girl at the mac counter and she conpletely helped me out she showed me how to use an angle brush and black eye show it looks amazing and it's totally easy to do now i can't pass off for being 14 like anywhere lol everyone thinks i'm 18. Oh ya i'm the same as you i'm pale and can't tan. It sucks eh. And maybe use some brighter colors on your eys (eyshoadow) or maybe some nice browns layered on each other(like put one color on top of another, usually lighter on top of darker) and some shimmery type of lip gloss looks really good in the sun.
SUPERGiRLxx answered Sunday June 4 2006, 12:00 pm: okay well i am just like you, i'm irish & pale too. the best way to make us look tanner would be to use tanning lotion, preferably Jergen's Natural Glow ( [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ) because it really works. and for other makeup, just put a little eyeliner and some mascara on.. thats really all you'd need in my opinion [ SUPERGiRLxx's advice column | Ask SUPERGiRLxx A Question ]
amyyy789 answered Sunday June 4 2006, 11:53 am: maybe you should try sunless tanner. if you want your skin to not be like pale then try something like jergins ive heard works well..just be sure to get the right type for your skin not like too dramatic like use the light one for paler skin. its a very suttle tan and gradual, so its not like omg black the first time you put it on. so it looks natural. but maybeline new york is pretty good makeup if your looking for like cheap but ok quality. just mix and match colors taht go good with your skin and all...pretty much what everyone said before me basically. hope i helped! orphans answered Sunday June 4 2006, 9:50 am: you can use bronzer, like a brownish blush. it will slightly cover up your freckles (if you have them??) and make you look tanner. you dont want to over do it with the makeup, otherwise you'll look plastic; so along with the tanning blush, you can wear like mascara and lipgloss, or eyeliner and mascara, or lipgloss and eyeliner. but dont wear more than three diff. makeups. those are jsut the best combinaitons above [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
tropicalbabe33 answered Sunday June 4 2006, 8:56 am: I'm quite pale too. Recently i went to the Body Shop looking for bronzer but the staff said that it would look too fake and ark on me.
Then they showed me this blusher/bronzer called Shimmer Waves 03. Its really great, its peachy gold shades will will not look harsh on your skin (bronze would). It makes you look slightly tanner as well as adding a touch of shimmer. Its good if you put it on your cheekbones because it really highlights and enhances them. Its fourteen pounds so quite expensive, but worth it. Oh, and it makes you look much more radiant and glowing. [ tropicalbabe33's advice column | Ask tropicalbabe33 A Question ]
dhrutts answered Sunday June 4 2006, 8:49 am: Hiya,
Makeup is a personal thing and part of a person's individual look, however if you do wear it you should try to use it to enhance your features rather than hide them and never, ever try a new look/ technique five minutes before leaving the house.
The base: There has been a big move away from heavy foundations and bases in the cosmetics world, and most people now leave their skin to breathe. Use a good skincare routine instead, and keep a concealer for those blemishes. After a while your skin will look and feel much better for it. If you're having a bad day on the complexion front try mixing some foundation with some moisturiser for a lighter effect.
Which feature? Pick your best feature from your eyes, lips or cheeks as your focus and leave the other two subtle. Usually bold colours/ effects on both lips and eyes can look a bit 'drag queen', so don't do it.
rainbowcherrie answered Sunday June 4 2006, 8:34 am: I have the same problem as you. I am very pale and I look younger than I am. But I happen to be very good with make up.
First off, you need to experiment with lots of different colours to see what looks good on you. I like to use lots of greens and blues and they look pretty good with my dark hair and pale skin, so they might suit you too. The key is not to stick to certain colours just because magazines tell you they'll look good. Try out all sorts of different stuff and eventually you'll find shades that look amazing on you.
Also, don't be afraid to mix colours. I usually wear at least three different shades of eyeshadow at the same time, because it looks a lot better than just one block colour. If you're not too confident then start out with using two similar shades then start to build up to more shades or different colours. If you do use more than colour, always remember to blend. Make up looks bad if you have harsh lines everywhere.
As for making yourself look more tanned...
I swear by bronzing powder. Buy a light bronzing powder {all make up brands will make them, you can get cheap or more expensive ones} and use a large fluffy brush to sweep it over your cheeks, forhead, chin and nose. Make sure you only apply it to areas that naturally tan. Each day, gradually build it up so that it looks like a natural tan.
If you're more confident then you could use something like Johnson's Holiday Skin. It's a moisturiser that contains self tan and it builds up a light and even tan that looks really natural. You can get it for your face and as a body lotion. I use it and I think it's really good.
The right application and the right shades of make up can make you look much older, it's all about experimentation and practice.
