hair 'training'?

Question Posted Thursday June 1 2006, 11:27 pm

okay, so i can't go a day without having to wash
my hair. i have friends who only wash their hair about..
2-3 times a month, and their hair is never oily or gross.

im white by the way, and so are they.
and of course they shower daily, but they dont
wash their hair and it always looks perfect.

they say they 'trained their hair' ?

is that possible.?

like to go every other day then wash it,
then every two days and then every three days etc?

if anyone know lemme know plz =]

If you don't stimulate the oil glands (by washing) they will end up producing less oil to an extent, but honestly- what about all the other environmental dirt and product? What about using conditioner to protect your actual hair folicle from the elements. In my opinion, it isn't exactly sanitary to wash only 2 or 3 times a month. Daily is probably the norm for most people.

I have the same problem. I cant go a day without washing my hair because I just feel all gross than. my hair dresser said its because of a sens. scalp. and not to be discusting or offensive but sometimes dirty hair looks better, I dont know how but thats what the hair dresser told me!
its not trained hair its just their scalp.
I hope all works out for you!

Yeah, the first person is right. Washing your hair makes it produce more oils to make up for the oils washed away when shampooing. if you switch to every other day, it will adjust and you wont have to wash it as much. i think its a pretty good idea to do that, but not if you only wash it 2-3 times a month. oil isnt the only reason we wash our hair. it gets dirty from the air and just being exposed to the world. but good luck!

You can't train your hair to be "non-oily" or something like that, but you can train it to part in a different place or move a certain way. I did that when I grew my hair out, and now it's parted in the middle with a pony tail. =P

Move your hair the way you want it and keep doing it that way for a few weeks or months and it will eventually train itself that way. I think...

Good luck!

YUck. I dont think you can can only wash your hair 2 or 3 times a month && it not look oily. i wash my hair 2-3 times a day yea its sad but my hair bothers me if i dont wash it. Maybe you can try "training" your hair the way they say like wash it every other day a so on. But im not sure. Maybe they use a certain shampoo.

Sorry if im not much help

Yep, it's possible. The more you wash it the more it gets oily. The reason is that washing stimulates the oil to produce more often. You may have to go a day w/oily hair, but after a while your hair will adjust.

Namaste!
