Question Posted Monday July 21 2008, 11:52 pm
ok im 14 and i had sex twice with my boyfriend and i dont know if "it" {cherry} popped becasue everytime we have sex it hurts so bad is that normal for someone? i really really need to know before i have sex again>33 thanks :)
If you have had sex twice, then there is a pretty good chance you do not have a hymen. If it still hurts, it probably has nothing to do with that. It's probably because you aren't lubricated enough when you have sex. If you can't get lubricated enough on your own, you can always buy KY. [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]

The "cherry" concept is kind of difficult to explain. It's not actually, like round or anything. In fact, it's a piece of skin over your vagina called the heimen (sp?).
Usually you remove some of this piece of skin when you first use tampons, but that's not the case for everyone. As I'm sure you've figured out, a penis is alot bigger than a tampon.
If you've only had sex twice, I wouldn't be concerned if I were you. Your vagina changes shape and size to accomodate things (i.e. a penis, tampons, fingers, specculum, ect.). However, it can still be uncomfortable the first few times.
Try using more lubricant, get something water based as to prevent allergies. You can purchase them at most drug stores/pharmacies without anyone knowing. ALWAYS use a condom. Those are lubricated but for some females it's not enough, and it's a must in preventing unwanted pregnancies and STD's/HIV.
You could also use a vaginal moisturizer. KY makes a great one, called silk-E or something.

it hurts because your body is telling you that it's not really ready for sex. and at 14, i have to agree.
