My boyfriend Lost his job

Question Posted Monday May 22 2006, 10:34 pm

What should I say to my boyfriend that just got fired from a job he was in only 2 week? There was other people fired as well, I don't think it was him. I said that must be the most frustrating thing to go through, but other than keep saying that (or I'm sorry, which I heard guys hate to hear) What do I say???

just tell him that it was thier loss, and clearly it wasnt him, since other people got laid off as well, maybe they were just downsizing. And that there will still be other jobs--better jobs.

I say, tell him the same sort of things you would want to hear if the roles were reversed.
Being canned is totally lame and can make you feel like a big loser. Just let him know that you know he must feel bad about it, but that his being let go after only two weeks (along with the others) cannot possibly be a reflection on him, being that they barely got to know him! Tell him he deserves to be treated better than that by his employer and encourage him to find another job quickly (being unemployed can really put a person in a funk!)

Hope that helps!

Its a terrible feeling to get sacked, especially after long term, you feel like such a loser, even if its not your fault. Yeah just say, "they are crazy for sacking you, they must be in financial difficulties, dont worry it wasnt personal, (as others got sacked) help him with his self -esteem, by saying he will get another job soon. You are proud of him for trying so hard. And its their loss"

That it sucks.
Or that the next job will be better..
You shouldn't really say much about it.
