Question Posted Thursday May 18 2006, 4:48 pm

I wanna lose weight (no this question does NOT ask how!). So I told my friends and they said that the way they lose weight is to go on an "all you can drink" diet. They said it's where you can drink anything you want at any time but you absolutely cannot eat anything. The only things that you can't drink are milkshakes, coke floats, alcohol, things like slim fast, and soda (unless it's diet).

Is this unhealthy? So far today I haven't eaten anything and I've drunk diet Dr. Pepper and Gatorade.

Yes, it's extremely unhealthy. You need food! Food has things in it that make you healthy! In fact, vegetables actually make you lose weight. Dr. Pepper and Gatorade have NOTHING in them. Just drinking and not eating is basically the same as anorexia, which I'm sure you've heard of. All you need to do is eat healthy goods, drink lots of water, and exercise. This "all you can drink" thing is just going to hurt you.

yea i would say this is a bad idea...just drinking is not good. your body believe it or not needs some fats and diff kinds of things, after a while you will become unhealthy and then that wont be any good so if you want to get rid of some extra lbs then just cut back on what you eat instead of eating what you normaly do take away some of that another words…reduce your portion sizes but not drastically because thats not a good thing to do either.
hope you do well!

PS: if you have any ?'s send me something I recently lost 40lbs just by cutting back on portion sizes sure it took about 5 1/2 months but it was way worth it!

Yes, your body is not getting the nutrients it needs by drinking .. diet soda and Gatorade. Also, Gatorade is high in sodium -- unhealthy.

I suggest you eat healthy.

If you like drinking more than eating, I highly reccommend you buy this product called Ensure. It can replace a meal or snack and it's VERY VERY extremely-out-of-this-world-amazing health drink. It doesn't necessarily make you lose weight, but if you drink this instead of eating carbs and transfat, this will deff. make you healthier and probably slim you up.

STOP. Starving your body of nutrients is not the way to lose weight. No matter what your friends say, not eating is called anorexia. Therefore, you need to put food in your body. Substituting drinks for food doesn't count, so please eat. If you don't eat, not only will your body crave more, you binge and gain all the weight back, maybe even more. Also, you'll ruin your metabolism. I'm all for losing weight, just don't do it this way. Eat three square meals a day, filled with fruits, vegetables, and protein. Your body depends on you, take care of it. If you need some good nutrition tips and ways to eat healthier, I'm here for you. You know where to find me =]. Hope this helps.

Yes, it's unhealthy.
Not eating is bad, even if your drinking.
If you want to go on a diet, theres lots of information on the internet on how to do it the healthy way.

If you starve yourself, you end up storing more fat.
But if you do it the healthy way, your weight loss will be long term.

Good luck.
