Depo Provera My friend went on the Depo shot sometime around the middle of March and lost her virginity (unprotected) maybe a couple weeks after that. Thing is, she hasn't started her period yet. It's now nearly 7 weeks later and she's scared. The only time she's bled on the shot is after having sex. She has only had PROTECTED sex once of twice but has had unprotected sex many times. She says she's not going to worry about it but I can tell she is and I don't know what to tell her. Is it normal for her not to spot or start her period or is this something she should see her doctor about or take a test for? Please help, I rate high! Thank you.

i was on the depo-provera shot for three years and i only had my period like, three times. that is a normal side effect of the needle. ]
She needs to talk to her doctor. The depo shot can really cause some strange things to happen.
I worked in a docs office and we had a girl who had her period for 5 months straight after starting on the depo shot. Doc said it was a possible side affect...not one I would want!
My main concern for your friend is that most doctors will tell you not to have unprotected sex until you have been on the birth control for at least 30 days. If she had unprotected sex after only a couple of weeks she needs a pregnancy test.
She may not be pregnant, like I said the depo shot can cause strange things to go on. But just to be on the safe side and for her piece of mind, she needs tested.
EDIT........
Maybe she could at least get a home test. A call to the doctors office might be worth a shot too. The nurse may know whats going on and could save some time. See if she won't at least do that. :) ]
Usually when being on the shot your not suppose to have a period at all!!
She should call her doctor && get details

take a home test first and then go see her Dr. soon she could be at risk!!!!! ]
I definitely think that your friend should take a pregnancy test. If you can tell shes worried about it that most likely means she is. Tell her to buy a pregnancy test or go with her to buy it.
If she is pregnant, tell her to see a doctor or go to a local Planned Pregnancy.
If she isn't pregnant, she should still go see a doctor because she might have a hormone imbalance or something else thats causing her period to be very late. Also, remind her not to have unprotected sex again.
Hope this helps!
AFTER FEEDBACK:
the depo shot prevents eggs from leaving the ovaries, but like all birth control, its not 100% positive that it will prevent pregnancy.
another reason she may not have her period is that if its still within and year/2 years of having her period, it could just be that its irregular. ]
Yes. It is better to be safe than sorry. ]
Well the truth is, most likely she's pregnant. If she's had unprotected sex MANY times then yes there is a high chance she's pregnant. What she could do is go to Planned Parenthood, see a doctor to know for sure, or get a pregnancy test from a drugstore. Hope it all works out!

I see this question probably every day. The answer is the same as all the others: she is probably pregnant. Unprotected sex leads to babies. Period.

If she was on the shot, took the pill, AND he pulled out, there is STILL a chance. ]
