Ok,well today,i took a bath, shampoo'd and conditioned my hair, then put this serum that stops split ends.but recently (every once in a while) i've noticed my hair has been falling out.a couple of mintues ago, after my hair was dry (by the air) i put it to the side and combed through it with my fingers.i got about 10 strands of hair! i was so scared!!! my sister's hair fell out,but thats probably only because she dyed it so much.no one else in this family has had this happen!should i worry and go to the doctor,or is this normal?!
ElectricLime answered Monday May 8 2006, 10:10 pm: This used to happen to me, and it was because I was eating aspartame! It's usually in sugar-free or diet things, but it's also in regular things. It's mostly in gum or soda, so if you're eating that, you should stop. Check the labels of stuff you eat to see if it has that, and stop eating it and see if your condition improves after a few weeks.
LadyGoodman answered Monday May 8 2006, 9:49 pm: Our scalps are accustomed to losing at least 100 strands of hair a day... that seems like a lot, but as teenagers we tend to have a lot of hair! 10 strands isn't so bad, but if it starts happening every single time you brush your hair, you might need to start worrying. You also just might be brushing your hair too much. 10 strands is nothing to me, but I also have more hair than anyone I know. You may want to mention it to a parent or a doctor if you happen to be seeing one soon just to ease your worries, but I wouldn't start to be scared unless huge clumps of hair start falling out all at once. sizzlinmandolin answered Monday May 8 2006, 9:24 pm: What is happening to you may seem like a problem to some people, but to others it is completely normal. This is because some people have hair that falls out all the time and some don't. I am one of the ones who loses hair constantly. It scares me how much my hair comes out sometimes. 10 stands seems like nothing to me. The thing is, my hair has been falling out like that for years and years, but I still have a ton of it on my head. It's thick, strong, and healthy. Unless your hair starts to majorly thin out or you start getting bald spots, this is nothing to worry about at all. It's just annoying. Good luck! :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
tasuki answered Monday May 8 2006, 9:02 pm: Well, hair loss is a symptom of polycystic ovarian syndrome, but I wouldn't worry about it. Hair always comes out when you brush it, and ten strands is not that big a deal. If it starts falling out in clumps, even when you're not brushing it, then you should see a doctor about it. XoNeLLiE143oX answered Monday May 8 2006, 8:57 pm: well i wouldnt worry about it unless huge chunks of your hair were coming out. 10 strands isnt really that much...if you combed it there could have just been a knot...you never know....hair is also very fragile. Maybe you're using a shampoo that is too harsh on your hair? And with the split end serum, I wouldnt put that in unless you start gettin split ends or straighten/curl your hair. Becuase that could be effecting it also. So basically, dont worry unless noticeably large chunks or hair start coming out...hope i helped! ♥dAnieLLe

Eat more healthy foods and buy shampoo that strenthens your hair.
herbivore answered Monday May 8 2006, 8:29 pm: hey. i would ask your parent about this. just explain what has happened. well, do you dye your hair as much as your sister? i think it may sound gross, but i would not come your hair for about a day and see if this continues. if it does then i suggest you go to a doctor and have it checked out. i bet its not that serious. hope this helps!! :) ♥ ♥ ♥ [ herbivore's advice column | Ask herbivore A Question ]
tinkerbelle92 answered Monday May 8 2006, 8:27 pm: Well... that isn't really.... normal... I mean, if it was, the ground would be covered in hair! Sorry, lol, i'm not trying to scare you. Have you asked your mom about it? Maybe she could help you. But you definitely need to have it checked out. Maybe it is just because you have an allergic reaction to the serum that you put in your hair, and it is just temporary. But you totally need to ask, just in case. So I better hear that you ran up to your mom and asked her about it right after you read this! JK..lol
