im a 15/f and kinda a chunk monkey and i want to begin running b/c i played lacrosse this year n ran out of breathe pretty quick. so i was wondering what would be the best way to build up my endurance and lose weight quickly so by fall ill b able to play field hockey and keep up w/ the other girls?
Ok haha this is a very good question for me to give advice on.
You should first start off by jogging because it's always good to build your cardiovascular system up, if your not used to breathing and stuff. Now remember as your jogging dont stop, believe me you will feel better in the end. Just pick a really good paise to jog at. Once you learn how to keep your paise you can build that into a little bit more of a jog but always remember, dont like jog then stop jog then stop, because it only messes up your paise an messes with your heart rate whitch causes you to over work yourself and that isnt good.
Also eating stuff in the food pyriamid helps alot. You dont techniqually have to eat just veggies and etc, but you can follow something off of the food pyriamid an you should be fine!

Now I'm out doing 2.5 miles and can still do more. Try not to skip any days, but if you have to, try to keep them to a minimum. The one other thing I have to add is stretch before AND AFTER you run. (I don't run the whole thing, I jog the first time, then run the next three, then do a moderate jog the last time. Just try something like this. Running/Jogging is a good way to lose extra weight and burn fat. It gets your energy up and builds your endurance. It also keeps you from getting sick. Pace yourself. Only do what you CAN... just push yourself a little tiny bit farther every day, and you should get faster and faster at funning. You will soon be able to keep up with the other girls, in fact, you might even be faster than the other girls! Just don't forget to stretch every day before you run... unless you want to be sore for a week! Well, good luck! Hope i helped!
