trampoline?

Question Posted Friday April 14 2006, 8:35 am

i definitely know trampolines can be dangerous. But i want one so badly that i've been beging my parents for like 2 years. they still say i'll think about it but then when they do they say no, its dangerous. but i did some research and most of the injuries from trampolines are falling of them, but if you get a GOOOD Safety net, that will solve that problem. and the other injuries are mostly falling on the side where the springs are or landing improperly from doing stunts and stuff. the side has padding on most trampolines and trust me i'm too afraid to do those flips and stuff. how can i convince my parents that i will be extra safe and cautious with a trampoline?

show your parents the research you've done, obviously you're committed to the idea. Also pull up some stuff on how it's a really good cardio exercise.

If it's possible, save some money. Give it to your parents and say I can pay for a third, or however much of the trampoline, I'll be responsible for it, and such. Before you buy the trampoline maybe set up guidelines for use, and go over it with other kids in your family, or put it on the fridge or something- like only one person on the trampoline per time, never jump unsupervised, no dangerous stunts, never use when wet, etc.

Until then maybe get one of those personal use exercise trampolines, just to show your parents how fun they are to use.

I had exactly the same problem, and although I'm still not allowed a trampoline because our garden isn't big enough, I managed to persuade my parents by finding out about trampolining lessons near me. A lot of sports and leisure centres and also universities run lessons or courses which are with properly qualified instructors. Maybe your parents will feel more comfortable with that, and once they see you learn how to trampoine safely, they'll be happy for you to have your own?
Hope this helps

well what i did was took a gymnastics class where we used tramps. my parents were super buts with that for years but once they saw that i used them and knew what i was doing they were okay with it.

also tell them you wont get a jump king.. those are the most dangerous ones because they are really bouncy. i dont remeber the exact kind i have but i got it at dicks and its not nearly as bouncy or as dangerous as jump kings.

Show them all the research you've done.

It will show that you are dedicated to getting a trampoline, and you know what to do so that they are safer.

Also, make sure you have room in your yard where you would put one. That might be another issue.

And yet another problem they might have with the trampoline is price. I don't know how much they cost, but I can't imagine it's cheap. Offer to pitch in whatever you can to help pay for it.

Most trampolines today come with a net to go around it, that way you can't fall off. If you do buy one and it doesn't come with one. Order one online.

Plus, you could tell your parents that it comes with a net for extra safety!
