Lately I've been hearing voices and seeing things that aren't actually there. I don't want to tell anybody because they'll think I'm crazy.
And also my kitchen timer's been talking to me.
This isn't a joke, I know it sounds like it is, but it isn't. I'm really scared about this.
-Possibly Crazy?

ScratchesOnTheWall answered Saturday April 1 2006, 6:09 am: Yep I'd agree with the advice given below- go and see your doctor. He/She's the person who will have seen and heard this all before and help you figure out a way to solve the problem.
They will not think you're "crazy"- this is their job and they understand that these kind of hallucinations generally have basic biological causes. They can result from taking certain types of medication, an accident or just a simple imbalance of chemicals in the brain.
LadyGoodman answered Saturday April 1 2006, 1:25 am: Schizophrenia is most likely to start showing it's ugly face during adolescence. You need to get help in case there is a real problem so that it does not escalate.
Schizophrenia is labeled by our society as something "crazy people" have. In fact, when a person has this disease, it is completely out of the person's control. If anything, people with schizophrenia should be treated as someone with cancer would be. You wouldn't disrespect a cancer patient just because they have cancer, would you? Schizophrenics should be approached with the same attitude. Schizophrenics have done nothing wrong. They were cursed with a brain dysfunction that is not something a person can fix themselves.
That said, you may just be going through a phase. I didn't mean to scare you, but it is imperative to recognize the potential seriousness of the situation. Please get referred to a neurologist or psychologist right away. Don't let anyone belittle you or laugh at you when you show concern for your issue, INSIST that you talk to one of these people. Razhie answered Friday March 31 2006, 9:30 pm: Tell somebody, just what you told us, right now.
Hearing voices doesn't mean you are crazy, but hearing voices and not telling anyone means you are kinda stupid.
I know it's embarrassing. I know it's difficult to make people believe you aren't just kidding or imagining things. I know it often feels like you are begging for help and nobody is listening to you.
Most importantly though, I know there are only two choices, tell someone who will take you seriously and start to get better or don't tell anybody and let it get worse. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
Alin75 answered Friday March 31 2006, 8:54 pm: This is the most obvious advice that anyone could give, but it has to be said. Go and tell someone ffs. If you are being serious then you definately need to see a professional.
Crazy is a strong word, and I am no expert, but it could be any kind of mental disorder. Do not leave this unattended under any circumstance. Dont worry what others think. Tell someone you confide in if you are a kid (your parents for instance). If you arent a kid, just go see a professional on your own. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
