the (gym) teachers @ my school begged my last year to join track, i went to a practice and almost died with the warm up (1/2 mile) and they are begging me again this year. they want to teach me to do the high-jump. i've been walking/jogging/running on my treadmill lately.
i would join track, but i don't like the fact of being with alot of other people && if i did high jump they would watch me <-- my biggest fear!!
i'd like to join track, mainly for the exercise, but i don't want to go to the meets.
ahh
should i try to join? i feel like i'm not tottaly ready to run alot!

I do 2 seasons of track and let me tell you its so much fun and you get to meet so many new people. but along with that does come the stress, especially with high jump (I do high jump too). but stress come with any sport you do, especially in high school. you just cant let it get to you. you sound confident in your running, and the training youve done on your own is good. if you dont think you can handle runing a lot, why not try sprints? and if your good at high jump, chances are youll be good at hurdles as well (i do those too ;-) ) as for high jump, what really helps me is to clear my mind right before im about to take my jump and pretend that no one else is there and its just me and the bar. i bet nobody watching you could even attempt to jump, so they have no reason to make fun of you. i really think you should try it out. if you like it thats awesome! if you dont, you can always quit, nobody can make you do anything you dont want to. but believe me, the best feeling is to be running and having everyone cheer for you and to feel amazing inside. :-) try it out, youve got nothing to lose! Next, you have to understand that you're going to have to be committed to your team so you can't just join and not go to the meets..lol.
Also, think about the pro's and con's. Sounds like great exercise! So it could be a great weight-loss or muscle-building kinda thing. It will keep you motivated and will probably make you healthier. But, then you have to think about the efforts & practice you'll have to put into it.
If you're OK with all of these things or somewhat OK with them, then I definitely recommend that you join the team! If not, you may want to reconsider or just say "no thanks."
