Here are the basics: 18/f, about 138lbs. (Ew).
Okay, so my diet's not too bad - Everything I eat has to be nonfat if possible, and I don't even eat that much. I also exercise, and I know the exercising I'm doing is making a difference - my body looks a little better and feels a little stronger. My goal is to lose like 20 pounds.
I do 200 crunches every other night, 40 every other night
I lift and curl and do pushups and dips, and do some cardio when I can.
But I still have like, an inch of fat on me that I'm DYING to get rid of. I'm convinced at this point that with all the work I do, if I didn't have this fat on my stomach, I would have a nice set of abs. I'm not "fat" - my BMI is normal - but I'm not happy with the way I look and feel.
I know I have to do cardio - but how much? Are there any other tricks I can use? Eating less isn't an option, as I barely eat to begin with. Lol.
Does cutting carbs really work? I thought of that, but my mother is convinced it's bull, so I dunno what to think.
I only drink water and coffee (I can't cut coffee, I neeeeeeeed it.) and I've been sleeping more lately.
That's all I can think of to say, so help me out!
I rate down for bad grammar and spelling. If I have to read your answer more than once to understand you, you're not getting a five.
Thanks in advance. =)
Additional info, added Sunday March 5 2006, 12:47 am: I guess I should've mentioned a couple things:
1 - 18/f
2 - I live in a dorm at my college.
3 - there is indeed a gym there, but my schedule doesn't give me a whole lot of time to go there.
4 - I am a music major. Again, my schedule doesn't allow me to take many more classes than what I absolutely need to do to graduate.
5 - I don't think I can actually join a sport unless I'm minoring or majoring in it, which I'm not. So that's not an option.
There is a great book called "6 Weeks to a Hollywood Body", by Steve Zim. First, it sets out a eating plan, but it also helps you identify your body type. By identifying your body type, their is a whole set of exercises - dedicated to every body part - that helps you over a six week period. It sounds that you could really see success if you could identify your body type.
You should also try to switch up your cardio with swimming, biking, and running - for at least 30 minutes per day. And yes, you should not totally cut all carbs out of your diet, but the book describes how carbs can be detrimental. The book describes the importance of a protein/carb balanced diet.
Another important thing you said was that you barely eat at all now. Your body could be put into "survival mode" and it will be really hard to lose weight because it may "think" that it needs to preserve fat. The book addresses this issue in great detail - so please look out for it.
hubhottie answered Friday March 3 2006, 10:09 pm: In reguards to the first persons answer, she said 2000 carbs a DAY! is she crazy?? your not supposed to have over i think 300. On the adkins diet, you only eat 20 a day!! i didn't even read her answer because it was bull shit! loser!
ok, you might possibly not be eating enough.
Eating little amounts of food only works for a while. MAKE SURE YOU EAT BREAKFAST! Try not to eat super unheathly stuff. Try whole wheat cereal with like banana's or strawberry's in it. Whole Grain toast with peanut butter <--yummy!
then for lunch. salads, without loads of dressing. put on diff. veggies & cheese & such. Or a sandwich. Sunchips. NatureValley bars. there's plenlty of options.
try to stay away from alot of sweets, and white bread. If you don't eat enough calories, which you should eat about 1200, then you will lose muscle. Lifting weights and doing cardio=great.
30 minutes of cardio a day along with weight training everyother day. STAY ACTIVE && EAT!
hope i helped.
if you can, get the biggest loser dvd. its awesome!
resonding to your feedback....
umm bagels are ok, i used to eat them. people said they were bad but wtf. lol..
fruits good. i used to not have time in the morning for breakfast..
try planning out what your going to eat the next day. like plan ahead for breakfast. i'm not sure how old you are, but if you live @ home like write on the fridge what your going to have for breakfast and have your mom pour sum cereal in a bowl, or put toast in the toaster. or cut up fruit the night before and put it in a zip lock baggy. you can make time for breakfast, i did!
lol
best of luck
& as far as cutting carbs..noo! lol i did that and its way hard to follow & its gay. just don't eat loads of them! eat whole wheat as much as possible.
xomegaroni answered Friday March 3 2006, 9:15 pm: OOPS i meant calories. carbs help too
counting carbs helps. i lost 10 lbs in a month & i thought that was pretty good haha =) i did crunches/situps, rode a stationary bike, jogged/ran on a tredmill & i also play basketball. i also drink more water & believe it or not but water actually helps you lose weight. kind've weird. it flushes out bad carbs. i try eating around 2000 carbs a day. you shouldn't go over 2100 if you're active. if not, then it should be around 1500 a day or 1200 if you're majorly overweight, but since 138 lbs definately isn't you shouldn't go that low. keep yourself focused & determined & you should be fine. breakfast is also a major thing. if you don't eat breakfast, your body goes into 'starvation mode' & it stops burning calories & stores them in your body, meaning you might gain weight or stay the same weight so make sure your breakfast is balanced. i know a lot of people that skip breakfast & stuff. sleeping is a major thing too & it's good for you. around 9-10 hours a night if possible can help. maybe you & your friends can go jogging. friends & family can really help keep the motivation/support up to help you lose weight & what not.
