Emo v. Goth
Hey ok i know this is very steryotypical but i am i emo girl and mah frinds say im a goth and i try to tell them goth and emo are totally differnt.... arent they... could u give me the differnt of the two or like a deffinition of each???? thanks!!

Ok. I'm a goth, and I do NOT worship the devil. I am an Athiest. But anywhoo, Emo: Some black clothing. Tight clothing. Loves music(not neccecarily screamo). Maybe cuts themselves. Goth: Hardcore, death-metal black. Barely any other colors showing. We like to wear makeup and chains. I wear rings. Not neccecarily suicidal. Both: Depressed (if you're true goth/emo). Likes to be alone. Likes music.

wWhat gives people the impression that all goths are suicidal? i personally am sick of that. yes, i am depressed..and yes i like to be alone. i also like to laugh and joke with any other oddballs that come across my path. most think that if they come near me ill rip their throats out, and feast on their steaming remains.....*thinks* actually....that does sound good...but, that is beside the point i am trying to make. i have a temper like anyone else, and i cant stand when people insist on trying to talk to you when you obviously dont want to talk. as some hav it correctly, goths are their own breed, and dont really conform to a set of 'rules'. yes, i shop at hot topic, but i love the loose pants, and the tons of chains. i like shiny things that can be used to....nvm....im not murderous and violent...right now....*clears throat* and i dont worship satan. if i had to give something, or someone that i do worship....it would be myself. none should be held higher than yourself. well enough of my rambles. im getting back to my life. im hungry.....

i hate it when people say that they are emo. first off, because you are just a stupid preppy girl who wants attention.
emo does not stand for emotional. it stands for emotive, which in the late 90's was a kind of music that had dark lyrics and some screaming.

labels are so overrated. anyways, if you're "emo" you should know what it means. and it shouldnt matter what other people think it is. especially if theyre your friends.

here are my definations of them : emo : is a person who is really in touch with their emotions ,they listen to scream music , taht talks about their problems,emo people to me put their emotions in the open without telling people. goth: on the other hand wheres all black , thinks of sucide,hates their lives , cant stand to be around people, goths are really depreesed and sucidial. those are my def. to me they are really diferent

Those are the real definitions, but when you tell someone your GOTH, you basically wear all black, worship the devil, have black hair, like vampires and other crazyy creature things.
If you say your EMO, you most likely wear girl pants, [ifyouraguy] , listen to screaming music, and are always sad and cut yourself.
Those are just what PEOPLE stereotype those two names as. (not what i think or anything) You can either decide the difference between emo and goth using the real definitions or the slang, but most people don't know the real definition and just go by the stereotype.

I think those two sites will help you out.They tell the difference between the two.Im sorry your friends say your "goth" alot of people stereotype people and its not what they arent and it can really piss the person off.People used to do that too me,but if it dosent bother you thats cool.But Yeah there's a different between them goths wear more black and believe in the devil stuff and listen to scary deep disturbing stuff.

I think that everyone has their own "deffinition" of each. From my view, emo is not I guess as "hardcore" as a goth. They are similar in some ways but not in others. It is hard to say, since there is no correct deffinition of either. So really if you think you are emo, then just ignore your friends. They are probably just trying to piss you off.
