Hey, Im not planning on doing this but im just wondering. What would make you loose more weight faster .. Only eating lets say a bag of chips and a drink for lunch .. then for dinner just toast .. by the way no breakfast .. or just eating regularly. So basically my question is will eating less cause you to gain more weight or stay the same. A friend of mine is going through this and I would like to know.
u_can_trust_me answered Thursday March 2 2006, 6:36 pm: eating less will put you at a dangerous state you could kill yourself . she might lose more weight like to bones but what she might really wanna consider is her health you not eating a fir amount of food can damage your heath. if shes trying to lose weight go on a diet but not stop eating completly [ u_can_trust_me's advice column | Ask u_can_trust_me A Question ]

In fact one should eat many small balanced meals every day (4 to 6 is what I normally read as being recommended). Skipping meals will send your body into starvation mode where it digests your muscles and slows down your metabolism (making fat loss really hard). Your body is programmed to do this as a survival instinct. Muscle is easier to break down than fat, and it is trying to keep you alive.
Now, chips are not healthy. They dont contain the nutrients you need, while being a great source of nutrients you dont need (saturated fat).
Toast alone is also just a source of carbs. Thats not good either. A balanced meal contains carbs, protein and fat. Failure to eat all the right food groups is not really healthy and it can lead to the digestion of your muscle tissue.
This is counterproductive not only because you will look like hell, but also because muscle burns calories. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn... the less you have the less you burn. Losing muscle is detrimental to fat loss.
Anyways, losing weight is not just about eating less, its about eating smarter and eating often. I cant say if your friend will lose weight or not, but I can say that 1. its not an effective way to lose weight, 2. it is not being done the healthy way, 3. a lot of that weight will be muscle.
LoViNu2mOuCh answered Thursday March 2 2006, 5:01 pm: Eating less like that is not the way to lose weight at all. A heathy way would be to eat breakfast! That is so important! Then eat lunch too. A bag of chips and a drink is not even good for you, so that is not a good way to lose weight. So maybe a sandwich and some fruit. And for dinner, again a piece of toast, that is not healthy at all. So she should eat a good dinner. The thing is if she wants to lose weight she just needs to eat smaller portions that is the key to losing weigth. So I would tell her to eat regularly, but in smaller portions, and also to work out. [ LoViNu2mOuCh's advice column | Ask LoViNu2mOuCh A Question ]
SWEETXLOVE answered Thursday March 2 2006, 5:00 pm: Alright, i just learned this in gym class lol. By skipping meals..it is definately going to cause you to gain weight..well if you skip some meals then go back to your regular eating habits--then thats going to cause you to gain weight and you should only try and lose about 1 pound each week my teacher said because if you lose too much first off its not healthy for you and most people just put the fat back on..they cant tend to keep it off. I would say just try and eat all your meals..but just eat healthy :) Chips and a drink isnt all that healthy..if your friend wanted to lose weight..why not have some fruit..or a salad for lunch? I personally dont think your friend is doing the right thing..she should just try to eat healthier..and not mess up her daily eating habits. It will just complicate things even more..and she may even gain weight in the end. Also because you are not having as much calories when you dont eat as much..and you go back to eating how you use to..thats when you are going to gain the weight because your body is used to the having the same amount of calories each day..and when you eat less then go back to eating how you use to..its going to cause your body to go back to the same amount of calories before..which may cause you to gain weight. Sorry if this is all confusing but if you need help understanding something just leave another one in the inbox and i will be sure to try and explain it better!

For lunch I would eat like tuna or somthng low in cals and fat. not chips. If there are venfing machines they sell tuna to go or somthng, you can get it from sams too.
