Question Posted Monday February 27 2006, 12:30 pm

okay so i am in 8th grade and i go to a private school. i am always told that i am a very smart person at home. but then i see myself as really not smart. but really stupid.

so anyway, i am doing VERY bad in science class. like i am at risk of failing and i am soo scared. i can't even sleep at night anymore. cuz then i strart brething really fast and sweat and all this stuff because i am stressed. so my teacher sent me something, saying i can fail. but i got it b4 my parents and tore it up. i am sooo scared to tell them. i planned on telling them but i keep procrastinating. so i don't know how to tell them. i am also doing bad in 2 other classes. but not as bad!!

i am thinking of just oging to public school next year, so i can start over new and have a fresh start. so i dkn. should i? is there anything bad about public school?
how do i tell my parenstr?
sorry this is soo0 long.

If you just tell them they will understand. They would probably rather hear it from you than someone else. If they find out from someone else you will be in more trouble than you are now. Just sit them down and say you need to talk. Tell them that you need help in school and you want to make it right. You know that you messed up and you are doing something about it. There is ntohig wrong with publis schools actually it is alot easier than private schools. I went to one an di did terrible and so i went to a public one and i graduated top of my class and you can do the same. Anyone can do anything if they focus and put their mind and believe they can do it themselves.

Don't worry about almost failing! I am actually failing a class and it's not a huge big of a deal cause I have A's in other classes. Try to get extra help from your teacher, or get a tutor, or even ask a freind. What I would do is ask the teacher for help then that night tell your parents that you are almost failing but you talked to your teacher. That way, it will show that you care about your grades and are responsible. I go to a public school and i LOVE it. I couldn't ask for a better one. I recomend it, but talk to your parents, they know what's best for you! Hope I helped!

If you were to tell me this in person, I'd first give you hug and tell you I feel for you. I know exactly what you're talking about! And I had the same kind of thing going on but the more I thought about it, I figured by leaving I would be running away from my problems.

And you are running away from your problems by moving to a new school. Sure, they say given that you'd be at a new school you start a new life, new friends, new grades. Not really. Okay so the school envirorment may differ but it's up to you when to start clean. You can do that now.

You are smart despite your grades, believe me! If you were dumb you'd say "fuck it" and not give a shit that you were failing. But the fact that you do care tells me that you're smart because you are trying to make a wise decision here.

You could do this:

(1) If you have time, talk to your teacher. But try not to lead her into having a discussion with your parents. Let her know that you want to get a better grade and opt for extra credit or ask her what you could do to recieve that. This way she knows that at least you are making an effort and when you do talk to your parents you can let them know that you've tried to ask for help.

(2) Start fresh and forget about the grade you have now. I know that it is very hard to do. But be prepared, study, be organized. Pretend that it's the first week of school again. Always ask for help, stay after class. Make your best effort to let it be known that you've been trying to understand the material covered. I loved going to Starbucks with my friends and working on homework.

*But by leaving private school, I wouldn't do it. In life you can't simply run away, well - okay, you could but where do you end up? You're not solving the problem, you just let it go. By you staying you'll prove you're stong enough to take control of a bad situation. Like what you're in right now.

Sorry for the pep talk, but when I was about 17 I was practically raising my own sister since my parents traveled for their buisnesses. Well my sister grew up by me and she was spoiled. She took full advantage of that and knew how to push my buttons. She didn't do shit. AfterI turned 18, I moved away to Florida. I knew if I stayed there I wouldn't be fixing the problem. They wouldn't learn to be independent unless they knew I wouldn't be around to take care of everything for them. I wanted to be there for my sister but I had to live my own life. She needed to learn her own life as well and know that things don't come so easy. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life.

Anyhow stay in that school. You need to get through the bad grades. You can definitely fix this. And moving won't solve it at all.

As for telling your parents, just tell them. It's really all you can do. You could sugarcoat it by saying I'm not doing as well as you think I am in science, but I want to try and get help and get through this year. I need your support.

Make it honest yet short. And if they get mad, I know it will upset you. But you got to motivate yourself to do better. Don't let them get you down.

Sorry for making you read all of this. I'll be here though, so if you need me just contact me. <myautobiography86@yahoo.com>; or this.

Mandee

I go to a public school and its not so bad. There might be more drama then private schools but thats all. it all depends on which one you go to,too. you should just tell your parents that you got bad grades and that you failed. You will probably be able to sleep better at night and the stress will be gone. whats the worst they can do? well hope i helped. if you want more advise then just IM me on aim at Misslilcupkake..
