you can go online to a college site even an online college campus where you study from home and look to see what courses are involved for that particular career. look up forensic medicine and things of that nature online and see if you can get any pointers that way. you could always ask a school counselor what you need to do to prepare for that course of study. By the way, good choice. that's a really cool field to work in.

Hey thats an awesome field to get into. I myself am attending a Criminal Justice college during my internship as an NYPD cadet and all of that stuff is offered. Definitely focus on your science subjects a lot and depending on if you want to get into something such as criminology you can study psychology as well to help profile crime and the criminals who commit it. When you get a little older see about different programs with your local police department and federal agencies as well such as the FBI, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals which are all exceptionally excellent agencies for different internships and more information about their different positions. I myself plan on leaving the NYPD after I get a little older and my service committment is completed and look to transfer to either the Secret Service or U.S. Marshals and while I dont want to be in forensics... I can tell you the FBI has an EXCELLENT forensics department in particular if you are looking to go higher than your local police department.

For this type of work, you really need a good background in science and anatomy. Computer skills and psychology classes would also help. I would try talking to your guidance counselor at school to see what classes you might be able to take. Your guidance counselor may also be able to point you in the direction of special programs that can help you.

In addition, I would recommend calling your local law enforcement agency to speak to one of their workers in forensics. They'll be able to give you more detailed information on the qualifications needed in the field and may even offer assistance to help you reach your goal.

I have a few links for you to check out. On the second link, click resources->choosing a career for loads of information explaining the various career paths, training needed, etc.

thats a great field, i love it! hope to be apart of it myself. =)
But first off the real thing isnt much like CSI and Law and Order, just as long as you know that.
In highshool, you shouldnt do too much, and i dont know what your school offers but deffinately talk to your guidence counselor. and dont be afraid to stay after, if your school is at all like mine you'll have to take biology, and chemistry, before you can take physics, forensics, criminology, anatomy ect. Sometimes you can double up the classes but that can be tough.
Since im not sure what is offered at your school, i suggest talking to your guidence counselor and science teacher, and start studing and learning about forensics ASAP.

aww we wanna do the same thing! =] but yeahh..basically just do what you have been doing, although throw some Law & Order into it if you dont already watch that. You got to be good at asking questions and really paying attention to how people answer to see if they are telling the truth or not. If you want to be a detective(thas what im getting from this question) then you dont really need to know alot about chemistry but it would help. You also need to be able to use a computer pretty well and know your way around on it. You should have good map reading skills also that way tou can find your way around town and such things. These are things ive heard there are probably many more. But just pay attention in all your subjects at school and in the end it will pay off. As for college i would recommend going to a college just for criminal justice that way you get all the courses you need to qualify but if you want to go to a regular college either one works. Good luck!!

p.s hope i helped a little bit
