Question Posted Saturday January 28 2006, 11:35 am
So, basically I have these problem areas that I've been working on for atleast the past year. I guess you could call them "love handles", my abs, and my inner thighs. I do curl ups (like 100 a night), these one leg things like 25 a night, and i dont know what to do about myl ove handles. Oh, sometimes I run about a mile.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Nothing helps.
Pleaseeee help. =)
dwarp answered Saturday January 28 2006, 5:54 pm: Increase your running, that's the only way. Building muscle does not necessarily mean a decrease in fat. For example, if you want to have smaller thighs, working your inner thigh muscles is actually going to make them seem bigger becuase you will not lose as much fat and you will have bigger muscles. The best way to get rid of love handles is to lose weight through running and other cardio exercises. They aren't the most fun, but they are the most effective. TimmyTM answered Saturday January 28 2006, 5:14 pm: What WiseAl said, as you can not target fat loss, only build muscle in the area you're working. Lower total body fat and you may see a difference. [ TimmyTM's advice column | Ask TimmyTM A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Saturday January 28 2006, 4:19 pm: crunches also help your love handles. just really you arent doing enough. you are supose to increase by atleast 5 each week and you should be doing them atleast twice a day if you can. also try joining a gym. they have alot of machines that help with specific areas. i really recommend it. i had a 2 week trial to ballys and i loved it [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
Alin75 answered Saturday January 28 2006, 3:06 pm: You cannot target fat loss to an area of the body. Curl ups, crunches, or whatever do not remove fat from an area, they only build muscle there. Thats why it hasnt worked.
So stop doing specific exercises no matter what advice you get, the human body simply doesnt work that way.
The only thing you can do is to either lose weight (overall) and eventually your body will get to your problem areas. Your only other alternative is to accept them as they are or disguise them (as per the advice given below mine).
I am not sure if you need general tips on weight loss, so I wont put any down here. Just send a question to my inbox if you do and I will be happy to help.
Here is a link to a nice site that has a whole load of exercises for your whole body: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Its a pretty comprehensive list, so you should be able to find all sorts of stuff in there. That being said... all they do is build muscle remember that.
Sorry if this wasnt what you wanted to hear.
Good luck. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
jco answered Saturday January 28 2006, 2:45 pm: Everyone has some kind of love handles. Even if their not noticeable! I have really big ones! Everything you're doing should be working. I'm sure its working and just because you look at yourself everynight you can't see it. You know? But you should try to work with them instead of against them. You don't have to stop wearing tight jeans, just try not to wear ones that are tight around your waist/wherever you wear them. It makes them look like their pouring over your sides. But if you are wearing jeans like that and for some reason you HAVE TO wear them, wear a shorter shirt because longer shirts show the odd curve lines where the love handles are! But sometimes, you really can't do anything about love handles. Its the way your body is shaped. xoxoxo, hope this helps!

AEangel589 answered Saturday January 28 2006, 2:38 pm: take like 5-20 pound weights into one hand.. stand with your feet spread a little bit, and lean down a little to the side(while standing straight, don't turn!) with the weight. dont go too low cuz it'll only hurt your back. do this about 10 times on each side until you feel the pain. you should feel it in that area. another thing is, play hockey, thats a huge one.. cuz when you dribble the puck, you're twisting that area, and believe me, if you play enough, you'll feel it. good luck! ADitzyBrunette4Eva answered Saturday January 28 2006, 2:35 pm: Hey!!! Love handles are very hard to get rid of. I dont think that running or any of the other excerises you are doing help. For abs...crunches and sit-ups are the best. For your inner thighs...you should keep the running, wall sits, and lunges. I think that to get rid of lobe handles...eating healthy is the best choice.
I hope I helped
Good Luck
