Failure Paper

Question Posted Tuesday January 24 2006, 8:36 pm

Last Monday we were assigned a paper about something we've failed at and how it affected us. It was due Friday.

I thought about it all of last week and quite honesty, I've never really failed at anything. The only thing I could come up with was freshman year when I got a B in Geometry when I wanted an A and I'm not kidding. So I asked my teacher if I could write about that. She said I could if I wanted an F.

So I decided that I would think about it a little more over the weekend and turn it in for a late grade on Monday.

I thought about it over the weekend--nothing. So I wrote it on how I've never failed at anything and how that makes me feel about my life. I went into depth just like the other students and it was 4 pages long.

Today, she asked me to stay after class. She told me that she gave me a zero because I did not write about what I was supposed to write and that if I don't write about something I FAILED at by tomorrow, she'd keep that zero and not change it.

I think this is way unfair because what I wrote about was true and it was still on topic. I know it wasn't exactly what she asked but what else was I supposed to do? I'm not going to make something up because I'm not good at that and I won't.

What do guys think I should do?

Call it Failing From The Future
Talk all about how you failed an assignment on failing because you never failed. Talk about how it feels and so on. Its not really true, you didnt fail but in the future you will if you dont write it. go go go.

I agree with younggrandma on this. Write the report on how you had an assignment to write on something you failed at and couldnt think of anything so you jsut kinda winged it and that you got a zero *you failed* and write about that. It'll be a in her face irony type deal. I love it!

This one seems so obvious. But I am on this side of the screen.

Write about how you failed to think of something to write your report on.

Give the whole story. Add on how you failed for not failing at anything. :)

well . if you really feel that you have never failed at anything then make it up . i mean half my papers i write are lies because it's easier to imagine things bc they never happened and you can write whatever you want

&& if you want to be a smartass you should write about how you failed that paper and since you did you now have something to write about

but you could always say you failed at a sport . maybe like you had some important game and your team did bad and you were having an off day or you let your parents/family/friends down because you wanted to do something else instead of helping them .. just improvisee good luckk!!

Good Lord, that's pretty funny. I mean, just because it's ironic!
You seem to be articulate (based on the way you wrote your question).
Try to think about a failed attempt to cheer someone up, or to not get a ticket. Maybe a failed diet attempt (most people have those).
Maybe you've failed at some sort of a sport. Maybe as a little girl you failed at hopscotch and felt imbarrased. It doesn't have to be something truley scarring, just make sure it's something you can say you learned from.

Write about how you just failed at this assignment beacuse you've never failed at anything else? Or if your teacher doesn't believe you've never failed (and if it's really true) have a parent straighten him/her out.
