i get a lot of popups and there are some nasty ones like porn.. and it gets really annoying and i use ad-aware but it doesnt work well.. i also use limewire so would that be the cause of it? can someone PLEASE tell me what to do cause im sick of these popups

It usually catches what Ad-Aware misses and vice versa. It's free and very user-friendly. I'm including the link for you to download it. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
It's also a good idea to run a virus scan just to rule out any viruses. Try to update all your utilities (antivirus, Ad-Aware, etc) on a weekly basis to ensure you have up-to-date protection.
A popup blocker may help with your problem, but I've found that they can be annoying at times. They're usually designed to block all popups so they can be a pain if you're on a site that requires popup windows. If you do decide to go with a popup blocker, try to find one that you can customize so popups that you want to see are not blocked. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
MikeDaBoobNinja answered Friday January 20 2006, 8:15 pm: It's not limewire, because limewire is only an application and doesn't contain anything that can harm your computer. You get porn pop-ups by going to free porn websites. They keep their website going by having pop-ups on their website. They make money off of it...those commies. Try downloading spy sweeper. That gets rid of a lot of things. You could also go to start --> run --> msconfig --> startup
and that's all the things that start when your computer starts. Take off what you don't use.

Before you download anything, make sure you read what it does or the description that it gives so you can fully understand what you are getting. ♥
