Blood won't come out in the water, something about your body doesn't allow it to come out. But if you still don't feel comfortable enough to not wear anything except a bathing suit, then I suggest trying to learn to use a tampon. It sucks, but if you don't trust that blood won't get in the water, then tampons are really your only option.

Did you know that you can still swim even if you have your period and you don't HAVE to use a tampon either? Just make sure you get in the water as soon as you change into your swimming costume and that you change back into your normal clothes as soon as you get out of the water. The blood won't come out when you're in the water.

(I always do this myself, so I know it's alright)

Of course, if you plan to sit around in your swimming costume then you'll have to use a tampon.

You have to try to use tampons. If you don't, you can't go swimming or anything else that involves being around in a bathing suit or tight shorts because everyone will see you pad.

Hi there!

The exact same thing could've happened to me when I was a bridesmaid for my friend in the Dominican Republic!

One of my friends told me that my Doctor could prescribe me a drug to stop it!!!

In the UK it is called Norethisterone.

Norethisterone is a progestogen hormone tablet, which you take three times a day for three days before your period is due and then for duration of your holiday to delay the period. At the end of this time, the tablets are stopped and your period starts as normal!!

It doesn't do you any damage and there were no side effects (That I experienced, but everyone is different)- it even stopped my stomach from getting bloated!!

Have a great holiday and I hope you manage to get something sorted!

Well you're in a bad situation and that sucks. but, really the only option you have is to just wear a tampon because otherwise, you just won't be able to swim unless you want to have the chance of getting blood on your bathing suit and being embarassed.

you should start to use tampons. don't worry - they don't hurt. they might a little bit after you start, but you get used to it. just make sure you do it right! you can't swim with a pad or a pantiliner, so unless you swim without any period protection, then you're kind of stuck. hope i helped :o)

ugh i know how that goes, but a tampon is sadly your only option. either that or don't swim at all =/

I am sorry to say but if you have your period and you wish to still go swimming you will either have to use a tampon, or just don't go swimming. Hope I helped
