Alin75 answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 10:00 pm: Mike is absolutely right. Be very very careful with this fitness myth... somehow people are under the impression that you can target fat loss from a part of the body. Humans simply cannot do that. Situps/ crunches etc add muscle to that area that is ALL.
The only way to lose weight is to make your body start to slim down. When this happens fat cells will be pulled off from all over, the order being decided by genetics not by what exercise you indulge in.
So... if you want to train and get a flat stomach, train your whole body. You will slim down much faster. Also (again like Mike said below) eat right.
Remember one of the most crucial things in weight loss is to boost your metabolism. The best way to do this is through weight training. Also, eat many small meals every day (about 5), this really helps on the metabolism, and drink plenty of water.
Finally, when you do situps and crunches, you are better off finding a way to add weight to your exercise rather than simpy increasing the reps (for crunches a small weight behind the neck or on the chest works well).
Sorry if this wasnt the advice you wanted, but please dont waste your time focusing only on target specific exercises, the most they can do is to tighten an area up a bit... thats all. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
MikeCFT answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 9:47 pm: Sorry you're not geting a flat stomach that'll stay flat until you diet the right way. Why not get yourself a personal trainer to put you in the right direction? Not listening to some middle aged woman's column on weight loss. Trust me..for the most part what you read barely scratches the surface on these fitness websites. Theres no better investment than one in your body. Sorry but crunches aren't making that tummy flat...what you do in the kitchen and how you stick to it does that. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 9:23 pm: it all depends. changes are it will take you a long time besides the fact taht sit ups are bad for your back(do crunches) im 115 5'0" and ive been doing 250 crunches a week for like 2 years and i have a somewhat flat stomach but nothing like a six pack. your sit ups are basically inifective. now even if you are doing 30 a day i still think thats not enough. i no a girl that did over 1000 a night and it took her like 6 monthes to get a flat stomach. i would recommend doing atleast 100 a day [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
4everMyself2 answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 8:08 pm: How fast your stomach flatens depends on your body. Keep in mind that it isn't healthy to loose more than 2-3 pounds a week.
Here are some websites that should help you out.

EVERY WEEK and by every week you increase by 5. At the end of that month you Might lose about 4 or 5 pounds. But if you lets say DO the sit ups and then later go out and eat fast food then you wasted your time. (If you eat fast food or food with a lot of fat they will decrease your chance
of losing weight !!
Heres this web site !! It will tel you EVERYTHING you nedd to know !
