It works like a charrrm.. and it wouldnt hurt getting your hair trimmed a little for a fresher, healthier look. There are also hair masks you can buy at places like Shoppers Drug Mart, (if your in USA.. im sorry, i live in Canada)

TheLoveDoctor answered Monday January 9 2006, 3:59 pm: well, a trim will get rid of the dead ends. you could always get it permanantly straightened and not have to straighten it for like.. a LONG time, but i'm not exactly sure how it works. but it's probably less damaging to your hair because it doesnt involve heating it everyday. garne` fructise smoothing milk works really well(sorry i can't spell it haha) otherwise go for pantene shampoo and conditioner, its a little more on the expensive side but its not the most expensive and it repairs your hair beautifully.
LM answered Monday January 9 2006, 3:55 pm: I've done the same thing. Pantene Pro-V shampoo works wonders, and you don't need to use the damage one to get the benefits. Since your hair is currently frizzy, I'd recommend the *Smooth and Sleek* one, it works great. Before you straighten, put a treatment in (I use pantene Smooth start smoothing leave-in treatent and Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine). Then either blow-dry on medium heat or let your hair air dry before straightening.(whatever works better for your hair). if and when you're willing to get a new straightener, I recommend the Remington Wet2Style (if you're pressed for time or have hair that tends to re-curl, like mine) or the Conair 3/4" ceramic one with variable heat settings (if you straighten your hair when it's dry or always have the time to blowdry it). I've also found that the Wet2Style makes your hair smoother, silkier, and less frizzy (which is exactly what you're going for, right?)
XxSunshinexX answered Monday January 9 2006, 3:02 pm: I totally know what you are talking about...i have naturally wavy hair that i hate! Well, i still straighten my hair everyday but i use a cuple products from sally's beauty shop where you just spray this stuff on before you straighten your hair and it adds shine and makes it more healthier...hope i helped.
I haven't used them myself, but I have a friend of mine that swears by them.
You could also try Mirtha products, their spanish hair products, but that's what my mom uses. They have certain treatment products. You may need some help translating descriptions though.
Also, you may have heard of Tresemme, supposedly that's what hairdressers use, and there's this spray that you use right before getting your hair straight that's supposed to keep your hair healthy
