I used to be able to sing "okay" But then I became a cheerleader for 7 years and now I sound like a man when I sing. I'm afraid to sing in the car to the radio or when I'm goofing off with my friends because I hate my voice and no one else likes to hear it. Is there anyway to make my voice any better? I love singing but I hate my voice!

Faerie answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 12:21 am: Try singing in the shower as a practice - it really works. It's scientifically proven that you sing best if you sing somewhere where there's a lot of water and echo.
You can try singing along with your fave songs, and have 1 teaspoon of honey every morning. Honey makes your voice softer. I'm a musician, and my voice sucks. I don't think I'll ever have a good voice, even though I hit the notes and stuff right. My case is hopeless, but I know there's hope for you. Oh, and one more thing. Raw eggs. A buncha Arab artists do this. They drink raw eggs, with the yolk and all. It help a lot, but I wouldn't try it. Ew, slimy, I know.
Borededness answered Monday January 16 2006, 3:23 pm: If you want to expand your vocal range higher, I think you should practice singing in private, if you don't want someone to hear you. Last year, I had a two octave vocal range, and now, I have a four octave vocal range. I sang along to songs like Phantom of the Opera, and practiced scales on my piano. Beloved_x_Eyes answered Thursday January 5 2006, 9:58 pm: I take voice lessons & singing is my LIFE! Haha, anyways, I think voice lessons would be really good for you. Also, DONT scream. Try to avoid even talking loudly - rest your voice after all that cheering. Unfortunately, 7 years is a long time, so I suggest going to a doctor who specializes in vochal chords. You may have seen this on the Ashlee Simpson show last year. But, anyways, you should also drink green tea with honey or lemon - it tastes amazing and is also really good for your voice. It makes it clearer. Another drink good for the voice besides obviously water, is orange juice and cranberry juice. My friends mom taught me that when I was little, and it actually works! Dont scream kelly clarkson songs at first, just use your head voice which is when your using a soft voice for high notes, like Mariah Carey when shes not belting. Hope this helps! Good luck! nickieeldorado24 answered Thursday January 5 2006, 9:48 pm: I love to sing but sometimes when I'm not happy with the way my voice is sounding.. I drink a little bit of lemon juice. It works for me.. but whatever you do before you have to start singing for cheering don't drink milk, soda & possibly even water. It doesn't help your voice but sometimes makes it worse. Hope I helped.
DancinCutie08 answered Thursday January 5 2006, 8:49 pm: well really the only think you can do is voice lessons because you have been cheering so long. if you talk to your doctor they may be able to recommend you a med. that can help you vocal cords but changes arent good. alls you can do is practice!
