religion freaks me out

Question Posted Sunday December 18 2005, 10:30 pm

I am completely confused about what I am. In regards to religion. I know i am christian, but I know nothing about it. I have never read the bible..and I know that most of the stuff in it I don't truly believe. And does God look down upon me for choosing not to believe parts of the bible?

don't worry about your religion . if you believe anything which is not in your experience any body can make you to belive any thing. unless it transformes as experience belive is nothing to do with life. conflicts are happening only because of the people who firmly belive what they know. every path leads to same destiny. once our logical mind functions, it can't accept anything unless you have clear answer . science is a logical presentation. because it has result for anything and everyithing. even result may not be the same . but definetily it has a result. a result is what i call as experience. once you got experience you need not believe it. because it is in your experience. see are you believeing that you have two hands? did some body told you? even if medical sciene change the name of that organ in yourbody you won't bother or felt lost. because you know how you should use it. that is experience. a knowledge can be given by any body or book but experiance one should earn by himself. but a person can give you a tool which lead you to experience if you apply your self. the process of appliing yourself to the path is what refered as sadhana in hindu culture. the person who gives sadhana is referred as Guru. eventhough all masters work will definetiley guide a sadhaka or person who with thirst, a living master can bring the same transformation in muchmore faster. that 's all . because of his presence and wisdom and acceceblity to you. if you really seek to know the answer within you , maybe i can't tell but i canguide you to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev--the founder of ishafoundation to promote spirituality in its totality and depth of our traditional way

If you're truly a Christian, no wonder you're confused because organized religion works to create more through fear and intimidation. If I may, let me suggest you do this.... begin thinking about how your heart is meant to be your truest source of insight, guidance and truth. Do this: find some quiet time.... uninterrupted by friends, family, work, whatever... and just sit in the middle of silence. Get real quiet, take some long, deep, slow breaths and do nothing. Turn off the wheels of your mind, let your mind go blank. When you feel the time is right go within yourself, listen deeply for any insight, feeling, urge, compulsion that has been hidden away for a long time. Slowly and patiently find that 'center' within yourself and begin the process of reempowering yourself. You are a beautiful, one of a kind creation of a loving Creator who's intention is to bring more love to this planet through you and your heart. Worry not, such a grant Creator shall not ever judge its own creation. So for now this shall be my answer to you.... my heart is my bible and wherever my heart is there is my only church. Also as you can, begin to understand that your heart and your soul are one in the same, so as you bring your heart to be more involved in your life, you're on your highest path to your highest good that you were created to become. Be at peace knowing you are loved and are to love all of life. Blessings to you dear heart.

The bible, no matter how you look at it has been picked apart and rewritten and edited since the first day it was considered a holy text. Man was not meant to contain divine thoughts of God and if there are parts of the bible you don't believe or consider to far fetched just remember that the bible no matter how divinly interpretted was written at the hands of man... and mortal men are prone to flaws and biases. So I wouldn't worry to much about God looking down on you... just try to be a good person and it'll all fall into place.
Luck to you

Well, I cant exactly help because I am athiest, but i was catholic untill last year. So i know some stuffs about "God". I suggest asking your parents what religion they are. They should know more. Because there are many different kinds of Christians. I'm sure God wont smite you for not reading the bible. But if you are worried, maybe read one (the kids ones are sooo much easier!) Well have fun with your God believing. : )

Go to: www.beliefnet.com

If you know nothing about Christianity, then you cannot call yourself a Christian. However, if you are familiar enough with Bible stories to know you don't believe most of them, then you cannot say you know NOTHING about Christianity. Perhaps you are confused about religion because you believe you must be SOME kind of Christian to avoid eternal damnation. That's what they want you to believe. Truth is, if you don't believe the stories in the bible, and if you don't know enough about Christianity to call yourself a Christian, then it doesn't make sense to worry about what some "god" may "think" about you. My advice is for you to use the internet to learn about different beliefs, and find one that suits you. An AWESOME site to try is www.beliefnet.com. Good luck to you, and be thankful you live in a country that protects religious freedom, including the freedom to reject religion altogether.

it's hard to call yourself a christian considering you have never read the Bible and don't believe in it. The Bible is God's words, He just used a man to write them down, so to say that you don't believe some of them would mean that God is a liar. God is CERTAINLY not a liar. That's what christianity is based on, it's believe that God's own Son, the Creator of all things, came down to earth in human form, died on the cross for the penalty of man's sin because man cannot earn his own way to heaven, rose again from the dead 3 days later, and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father. Acts 16:31a "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved". Ephesians 4:8 "For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourself. it is the free gift of God to eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord". Believe on Him, and live a life honoring to Him by worshipping Him and striving to do His will, and then you will know that you are a christian

The word Christian literally means "follower of Christ". True followers of Christ KNOW Jesus as their PERSONAL Lord and Savior. That said, if you know nothing about it and you choose not to believe what God says is true, What do you base your "Christianity" on?

no, honestly, my "creed" is completely different than that actual catholic creed. you don't need to read the bible...sometimes the more you know, the more you are appalled. no, God doesn't look down on you for that...some people at your parish will look down on you because they're sinners but God understands. everyone changes so maybe one day you will get into the groove and read it. <3
