Question Posted Monday December 12 2005, 8:55 pm

I have a question, and I know it's gonna sound stupid, but you know how when you were little and got all excited about Christmas? You'd count down the days and get up early to open presents, and you just had that special feeling that you only get around Christmas? Well, I don't get that anymore, and I haven't for a while. Why is that? Is it just cause I'm older and more mature? I still love Christmas, but I don't get that special feeling anymore. It's like Christmas is gone or something, and I just feel so weird. I want that feeling again. Can anyone help? I know, dumb question, but I needed to ask. Thanks.

Is there anything you're upset or depressed about lately? Anything bad going on in your life right now? That can get you out of the Christmas spirit. If not, then I'm sure it's just because you're older and more mature. Things fade over time. Start a tradition for you and your family or friends, that should get the spirit back up.

Aw hunny!!! The Xmas magic does kinda tend to fade as you get older but it shouldn't stop you from being excited. Here's what really gets me in the mood-do you have a christmas CD? If not YOU NEED ONE! Play it really loud, seriously it's the music that gets me going. Then you start thinking about all the presents and all the food and the parties. Merry xmas! x x x ps. Try watching movies too like elf, grinch etc...

wow, i am really happy you asked this question! haha, because i was beginning to think that i was the only one who felt this way~!*

but, i think that it's just, we are more mature, and we don't really get that same excitment we used to! which kind of sucks.. but. i guess that's life!

well, i hope you have a lovely christmas sweetie!

Its not very dumb of a question. I think it is because your getting more mature. Or maybe its because you've had so many years of having this feeling, its just not as intense or noticable because your getting used to it? Haha i dont think its because of that, but its possible.

Have you tried doing things that remind you of earlier Christmases? Watch a cheesy Christmas movie, help decorate the tree, bake some cookies, or read "Twas The Night Before Christmas". Personally, I never get the Christmas spirit until I've decorated the house for Christmas and baked a bunch of cookies.

This happens to a lot of people. You're definitely not alone. I didn't even want to have Christmas this year because my uncle died. There are lots of reasons why you could be feeling this way, but be assured that you won't feel like this about Christmas forever. If you have kids when you are older, you'll get just as excited as you were when you were a kid. You'll pick up on all thier Christmas energy. You'll be happy for and with them during Christmastime. Also as you get older, people tend to move away. During Christmas you'll be able to see most of these people and get excited about that. One thing that you can do is try something new for Christmas. Organize a game or a food contest. You could have a food eating contest (who can eat something the fastest) or a food baking contest where everyone brings a pie or cookies that are tasted by a panel of judges. My family does something called candy boxes. Everyone brings a bag of candy and a tin box. The kids put a piece of each kind of candy in all the boxes so everyone gets to go home with a box of candy. You can do the same with cookies or whatever you want. Snowman making contests would be fun, snow castles...the ideas are endless. Just try to spice it up and get excited about organizing events for the party. Anyways, I hope I helped and good luck!

i get that feeling too and i miss it too i think we get this feeling because now that were older we figure ok cool i get some cool free new stuff awesome when there's like other "cooler" stuff out there to excite us... like when your crush give's you that cute smile or they ask you out or your able to hang out at the lake for a week with just you and your friend. I don't really think you can get this feeling back but i dunno maybe when were like 20 or something i dunno how old you are but i hope i helped and i wish we got this feeling back! lol lot of love to ya!

Yea, it's because you grow out of it. I mean, everytime i run to the Christmas tree you see this big smile across my face. It's because i want to know what i got, or because i already know . lol =D. I mean, for the hell of it i still leave cookies out for "Santa"...NO JOKE. Maybe you still like Christmas, it's just you don't get excited. If you really get into it and do all this stuff and show some like..Christmas spirit, then it might work. Other than that. I don't think you can make the feeling go away. Also, i think its because when you were little you, you knew Santa was real. But when you grow older your just like, eh..its only my parents. All you have to do is just get into it.
