Question Posted Sunday December 11 2005, 3:16 pm

14/f

So I have sweaty palms all the time, no matter how cold it is. Now, I was going to put deoderant on my hands, but on the instruction label, it says "underarms only". Am I going to get a rash or something if I put deoderant on my hands? Or is there some other (inexpensive) product I should be buying?

5's for all

If you have swaety palms anf feet at times besides when you are playing, you most likely you are suffering from a medical condition known as hyperhidrosis, which causes a sweat gland found in the feet, hands, and armpits to be overactive. If suffered from this condition my whole life, and as a pro bassist, I was thrilled to discover that there is a relatively minor surgery to fix. Maybe you already know about this, but some others may not. I haven't had it yet but plan to in late January when I'm going to be in LA. For those of you that recommended "just relax", you are obviously unaware of how uncontrolabel this condition is, i would say my palms are sweaty about 65% of the time, regardless of whether i'm nervous active, whatever. (If i'mk nervous or excited, as playing music often is, then they are definetly that way.)Hand washing only helps for about one minute, i've also tried acupuncture to no avail. This surgergy looks like it will completely eliminate the problem. ANyway you should check out "Center for hyperhidrosis" for more info if any of you are interested. (You''l get mulitple hits on a search engine for this condition.) Good luck!

got that from.. www.basslessons.com

hope i helped ya!!

I wouldnt put deoderant on my hands .. it wont do anything .. after all .. your armpits are some of the most sensitive areas on your body .. but it will make your hands feel really gross.. try baby powder instead .. just sprinkle some on your palms and rub them together.

You can try different products, but the problem will still be there just the symptoms would eb cured.

If you want to cure the actual problem, you should look into "sweaty palm surgery". It is fairly risky but if it's a problem that is persistant and something you just really can't stand, then it might be a good idea.

Of course, you should wait untill you are older.

There is this thing called Certain Dri or Drysol. They work really good. It sounds like you might have hyperhydrosis (it's when your sweat glands work too much). They are around 13 dollars and last 3 months!

I have the same problem its really embarrassing i think...I dont think you should put deoderant on your hands thats kinda wierd and then if you went to eat somthing it would taste bad if you touched it. I really dont know a cure but you could try baby powder cause that like obsorbes stuff.

I've never heard of anyone using deoderant on their hands but you could use an underarm anti-perspirant. If you want to try that out, make sure the anti-perspirant contains aluminum chlorohydrate, the active drying ingredient. Even using baby powder will help. It'll keep your palms dry and absorb the sweat. If your sweaty palms become a problem, make an appointment with your doctor to get opinions for this.

Well, you could always upt deoderant on your palms. But I'll tell you it's a pretty stupid thing to do.

Buy yourself baby powder. Keep a little bottle in your purse (if you carry one) and put that on your hands. The powder absorbs the oils in your hands and keeps them dry.

Same thing for sweaty feet.

The powder doesn't have to be expensive at all. Just buy the cheapest thing you can find.

there prob. is something you sould buy. i know they make stuff for sweaty feet. you should try that, but i doubt the deoderant will harm your hands unless you have supersensitive hands
