It depends. But yes, people who are locked up totally alone for very long (like months of years) periods of time will eventually go insane.

Depends on how long you are isolated and under what conditions. I'm sure if you were held captive for the rest of your life, you might go insane. But, if you have like a tv and books and stuff, you might not. It all depends on the person, circumstances, and time.
