Question Posted Thursday December 8 2005, 2:27 pm

Alright, I was assigned to write two articles for the school newspaper. The first has to be something about Christmas...but I can't think of anythin that isn't cynical/witty/overly sarcastic. Any ideas?

The second is about schools and why they are essential. Ideas, please?

Thank you - will rate 5 for every idea!!

You could write about the the commercialism of the holidays now. You could also write maybe about the new Christmas "fads" of this year - such as upsidedown or retractable Christmas trees.

well for christmas you could write about the music. ever notice how there is so much christmas music being played but no Hanukah/Kwanza music. personally that is jacked up. im sure you could write something good with that.

hope i helped.

For the article about Christmas you could try focusing on one specific area and doing a short history of it and how it's changed over the years (for example decorations or trees).

For the article about schools you could do something about areas of the third world where they haven't had schools but are now getting them and show what difference it's making to the people there.

Good luck and I hope I've helped

For the Christmas article, maybe you can write an article about presents. Some people have no idea what to get their friends, and you can offer some basic ideas for each gender or personality type (if they're a music lover, girly, etc.). You can even ask some people what they're getting their friends for Christmas, and include that in the article.

For the school and why it's essential article, you can just get straight to the point. Say what you think of school, and list a few reasons why you think that it is essential. Say why it will help you succeed, and maybe share some success stories (If you know someone who went to Harvard or something). Maybe you can survey people and ask them what they think of school and why they think it's important.

I hope I helped, and if you have any more questions, feel free to leave one in my inbox!

You could talk about how Christmas has become more and more commericalized each year. How americans spend millions on gifts and decorations
For the school one you could explain how alot of blue collar jobs are being replaced by computer or machines. An example would be the self-checkouts in stores. In 5-10 years there will be no cashiers, everyone will have to have a good education to get a job.

Hope I helped

How about you do an article on the Upside Down Christmas Tree? It's a new thing! People actually buy christmas trees you purposely turn upside down. Supposedly it "stores more presents underneath it". I think that's pretty interesting! Target even sells them.

Schools are essential for knowledge and intellectual activity throughout the world.
