luckybutt32 answered Thursday December 1 2005, 12:03 am: its a state of mind a poor self image of someones body. the body reacts to thought process. your brain retrieves information from nerves and images processed through the vision. when this happens the thought that occurs is processed and then becomes like an illness. stress imitates this. so if you have these illnesses you become sick with it. most people with these problems feel they have no control over thier lives or enviornment so they get a rush from the fact that they have control over what they put in thier mouths. sort of a feeling of power.thats where it is a mental disorder [ luckybutt32's advice column | Ask luckybutt32 A Question ]
xxoBriannax answered Wednesday November 30 2005, 6:27 pm: Anorexic and bulimic people see themselves as always fat. They can be 50 pounds and still see a 500 person in the mirror. It's how their minds interpret what they look like. That's why they go to counseling. [ xxoBriannax's advice column | Ask xxoBriannax A Question ]
SouthernGirl323 answered Wednesday November 30 2005, 5:21 pm: both are related with mental images of ur body that may or may not be true. i can't really tell you anything about bulimia besides the obveous, but anorexia is when someone sees themself as overweight, even though so many are severely underweight. they trick their mind's into thinking they are fat and worry about every calorie taken in. some are paranoid, thinking everyone is judging them/sizing them up and seeing if they are skinny enough (which anorexics attribute to being acceptable as a person) it relates to psychology because anorexia is mostly a mental illness that leads into or causes the physical illness. :) [ SouthernGirl323's advice column | Ask SouthernGirl323 A Question ]
TimmyTM answered Wednesday November 30 2005, 3:20 pm: Anorexia is a body distortion where someone thinks they're fat. They look in the mirror, and all they hear is this inner critic beating them down 'FATFATFAT'. They cut their food intake, and may exercise regularly.
Bulimia? More associated with Binge and Purge. Food is a comfort, so they eat. But then they feel guilty about it, so they purge. Or, they just purge most of their meals up. I'm not 100% on the why, whether it's to get the taste but not the calories, or whether it's more related to a cycle of comfort and guilt. [ TimmyTM's advice column | Ask TimmyTM A Question ]
susana answered Wednesday November 30 2005, 11:24 am: Eating disorders are illnesses with a biological basis and have extreme underlying issues and are more often symptoms of greater problems. A good site to know about will explain the illnesses (disorders) in a very easy way: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
A person suffering from an eating disorder needs counseling to resolve the issues that surround the disorder. There are many distortions that an eating disordered person views about him- or herself, life and environment.
Eating disorders are definitely ILLNESSES that are related to psychological issues. It is said that they are "illnesses and not choices." They then must be dealt with seriously and NOT ALONE! [ susana's advice column | Ask susana A Question ]
WelcomeTo_xHOLLYWOOD answered Tuesday November 29 2005, 10:59 pm: Body dysmorphic disorder. Your mind doesn't see the same thing as others see, sometimes seeing itself as something it is not.
Anorexia and Bullimia start in the head; You think you're fat, or you 'just wanna lose 5 more pounds'. You see youself as something you are not, and are willing to put yourself at risk to strive for what your MIND thinks is 'beautiful'. You can't stop, because you mind has you fearing fat so much, that it's nearly impossible.
Sorry for the vague answer, I wasn't POSITIVE what the question meant, but I thought I'd say what I knew :]
