Q: i know the how the saying goes " don't judge a book by its cover ", but i'm still wondering what is it about 'reality' shows that make them so popular. i don't really see anything so special about them whatsoever. im a guy, and i even hear other guys talking about tv shows like its the latest gossip or something. i really don't have time to watch any tv though... ive asked around and everyone always says " because of the drama ", shows like laguna beach, the oc, etc. is that all there is too it or is there more? thanks, will rate.

Conflict makes most reality shows hits. Fights, harm, death, humiliation, stuff out of the normal is what people want to see.
Also notice many people on some reality shows are very attractive.....
Mostly, though....I find that people like to watch people who are...well, different from them. Richy-rich people, people with problems, people who hook up and have sex 24 hours a day, people who fight constantly.
Anything out of the ordinary.

Q: my grandpa has alzheimers and he fell down the stairs last night. apparently his head was gushing blood and he wasn't responding to anyone and now he is in a coma. I don't think i fully understand what a coma is, and i really want to know if it's possible for him to live or what? what does this all mean? please help

I'm sorry to hear this. Of course, there is a chance he will live. There can be a chance he will never wake up, though. Also, if he does wake up, there could be a chance he may not be the same at all.
Technically, a coma is like a vegitative state. You are unconcious, but you can hear what's going on around you. Sometimes doctors put people in drug-induced comas when the body can't handle the illness taken upon him. Other times, the body does this on it's own. Sort of like a recorvery time.
I hope for the best for your grandfather, you, and your family.

One time, when I faked sick, I poured really concentrated cherry kool-aid down my throat [pour it into your mouth, not making contact with your tongue, or your mouth will turn red and give the whole thing away]. It makes your throat look red. Muhahaha :D
Change your eating habits slightly. If you were to fake a sore throat, say it hurts when you eat things with high acidity, like tomato sauce and orange juice. If you were to fake a stomach bug, don't eat much at all.
Stay up as late as possible the night before. It'll make you sluggish. Lack of sleep makes you a bit pale too.

Punk: People don't seem to get it. Punk was a music style, that has been overridden by the media. People also see punk as the mohawk-i wanna be sedated-chucks-put elmers glue in my hair to make it stick up-peirce every body part availible. The older one, can write a good rock song without screaming in it.
Goth: Gothic is a type of writing [vampires], architecture [haha like the buildings in europeeee], and ...erm...lifestyle? Not so sure on this one. Sorry, but they wear black and this girl in my class who way's she gothic told me she worships the devil and will kill me someday because I am human (no joke, I was seriously freaked out). The darkest of the 3, I'd say.
Emo: Ah, emo emo emo. It's even fun to say, isn't it? :]. Emo is short for emotional. Music style a few decades ago, it's back again...or did it ever leave? People connect it to extremely tight pants on guys, black hair with long bags, whore-ish photos, myspace, wrist slitting, extreme skinnyness, and guys kissing. "Emo" is overridden by the media and fakes.
It's all stereotype, honostly. I connect it to music style. Yes, there can be Christian punk and whatnot :].

Body dysmorphic disorder. Your mind doesn't see the same thing as others see, sometimes seeing itself as something it is not.
Anorexia and Bullimia start in the head; You think you're fat, or you 'just wanna lose 5 more pounds'. You see youself as something you are not, and are willing to put yourself at risk to strive for what your MIND thinks is 'beautiful'. You can't stop, because you mind has you fearing fat so much, that it's nearly impossible.

Q: Hey guys! I'm 13 years old (almost 14) and I am in 8th grade. Next year, (which is not too far away) I will be in high school (freshman). For those of you IN ninth grade or over, does it suck? It scares me because I will be going to a school with 17 and 18 year olds and I'll be only 14 when I go to high school! Is it scary to go to high school? I've heard so many bad things about high school... the boys are the worst... I could probably survive in an all girls school because boys that I klnow are just mean except a few. I'm really scared knowing that I will be in high school! Can anyone give me some comforting advice to help me feel better because everyday, I get scareder knowing that another day is past and I'm that much closer to high school? I'm just scared... can anyone help me... seriously! I don't want sarcasm or rudeness in yall's answers. I'm just looking for a little comfort... Thanks!

High. School. Is. Blech.
Well, not really. It's def. better though. More freedom, more friends, more time.
My best advice is to take classes you truly like. Don't take classes "all your friends are taking". You'll end up unhappy and bored. Also, some people think it's really hard to make friends in high school, but it's not!
As for guys, you'll have a widdeee variety. There are so many guys, you won't have to worry about avoiding certain ones. The best part of high school is meeting new people. Start a conversation on your bus or in a class.
Don't forget that ALL freshmen go through this. You are not alone. An entire class of students are most likely asking the same questions in your head.

*well me and my ex boyfriend "mike" have been broken up for 9 months now! we talk about once a day or sometimes every other day! we have hung out quite a few times..and this is where the problem starts
*last night he came over and picked me up at my house around 10! he lives like 30 mins away from me so the whole time we were driving he was just kinda flirting with me..like making fun of me and stuff! well we were going to his friends house to get him and then gonna go bowling but his best friend was there and he doesnt like me so we didnt go there..instead we just went to mcdonalds! he kept asking me if i wanted something but i said no! well he got something and while he ate we sat in his truck and just talked..he kept staring at me and i was like what and hes like can i not look at you! and he kept calling me turtle lip which is what he called me when we went out! well then we left and went to his house and i started playing with my hair and
he was like whats wrong? i was like nothing and hes like what are you thinking about and i was like nothing and he was like dont lie to me i know better..well i didnt wanna talk about it! so we get to his house and he undoes his seatbelt..he looks at me and goes do you think it would really work out? i was like i really dunno and he was like honestly and i was like i dunno maybe! well i told him i was cold so he moved the thingy in the middle up and came and cuddled with me! well he was rubbing my feet for a while and he knows i love that! then he layed his head on my chest and was listening to my heart beat! well then he looked at me and was like can i bite your lip and i was like why and he was like i want to so i was like sure..so he did..then he layed his head on my chest again and just stared at me and was like can i kiss you so i was like i guess so we kissed! and that happened quite a few times! he kept trying to hold my hands and hold me in his arms! well i got up for a sec so he laid in my spot! well i was like fine ill go in the back and he was like no lay on me so i did! the seat belt thing was in my way so i went to the back..so he came back there with me and of course we cuddled and ended up messing around! weve hung out several times before this and weve never touched eachother like that or cuddled/kissed or anything! well then it was 1:30 and his dad was like you need to take her home! ya it seems awesome i know..but heres where it doesnt make sense! today he was on AIM and imed him (he was away though) and i was like you know things are gonna be hard now cause i cant get over him at all..and he signed off so i was like what the heck! so i got on myspace and he was on so i was like whatever cause sometimes it just leaves it on! then again later i got on it and he was on it again but he wasnt on AIM so i felt like he was avoiding me! so i called him and was like why are you ignoring me and he was like im not im watching a movie ill ttyl so i was like whatever! and he hasnt been on AIM all day..sometimes hes not but its kinda weird! i dunno if its just me or if hes ignoring me! i guess my question is what should i do? let go or keep trying? keep in mind he is my 1st love but i have been trying for 9 months.. how do you think he feels? do you think he really likes me and is scared to tell me or fall me or what? ughhh someone please help me! thanks so much

Well, it depends what kind of guy he is. If you know him as a loving guy, who respects and cares about yo, then I might think that he mioght have signed off coincidentally, and given him another chance. If not, my guess is he just want to fool around and didn't want anything more. It's time to move on. Then again, he might be scared that you don't feel the same way. Next time you see him in person, sit him down and ask, "What's up with up with us? Have you been avoiding me?" Tell him how you feel, or else he might not open up and tell you whats really going on. If he truly won't answer, I'd suggest moving on for now, for now at least.

Q: As dumb as this may sound, I didn't actually realize how horrible it is, when you eat chicken & hamburgers. I didn't actually understand the concept that for me to eat a hamburger, is for an innocent cow to just die. My friend sent me an e-mail with a video about fur trade in China, and how dogs & cats are skinned and killed everyday just for fur. But, it got me to thinking how horrible that actually is. I really have been thinking about it today, and I think just eating hamburgers & chicken is disgusting especially knowing that an animal died for that. I'm really considering turning into a vegetarian. Do you believe that this is a good enough reason to want to turn vegetarian? Thanks so much. ♥

Try hair serum. The moisture in the air could make your hair frizz up, and a little...(i mean just a little, maybe a dime sized amount) will hold your hair down with no hold like hairspray. Another option I like to try is to spray a light coating of hairspray, then brush with a bristle brush, for a flexible soft hold.

Buy a hair protecting serum. Usually the bottle will mention soemthing about "protecting hair from styling products" The heat from the iron is probably drying out your hair and causing it to break. Condition your hair every night, and deep conditioner once a week would be good too.
As for qustion number two.....hmm.....they're stuff tends to range from 30-120 dollars a piece. I'd say a full outfit (meaning shirt, sweater or vest, skirt, jacket) would be. . .150 dollars. . .or higher. You can find lots of cute items there for less items too, like tee's and camis.

With all honosty? Ask them. Just plain out. Say "Tia and I are goin gto go sleep over Andy's. is that ok with you?" Be ready to adjust to any requests they have. If they want you to call them at 11 or something, go with it. They jsut want you to be safe. If you have to, have your parents meet andy and his parents. If they do say no though, I'd back out. If your parents find otu they'll lose their trust of you. Just ask him to hang out some other day.

Q: Okay so theres this new guy to our school and hes a Junior and Im a sophmore and hes the classic bad boy he's been in trouble with the law, hes not a virgin (i am)he parties ALL the time.
