How To Do A Back Walk-Over

Question Posted Sunday November 27 2005, 12:27 am

I've got some questions on how to do a back walk-over. You start with the back bend, but I haven't been able to bring my legs up and over. Does anyone have any tips of exercises or anything that can just help me to do it?

Love Ya!

Thx everyone!! The advice was great, especially the one about the handstands, and the other one for stomach muscles. I've suddenly forgotten your names, but once I go back to the questions and get them, I'll rate the oth of you a five.

hand stands :( unfortunately. the best way to start may be to try handstands against a wall, and then bringing your legs over and stuff
and then without the wall
and then from a backbend type position

Your stomach muscles need to be REALLY strong to be able to master a back walkover. Your legs need to be fairly strenthened, too.

A backbend kickover is where you actually land in a backbend, then kick your legs over. Two seperated motions.

A back walkover is where it is all one fluid motion. (Just FYI, =) )

Do whatever you need to do to strenthen your stomach and legs. Sit ups, crunches, scissorkicks, etc.

It helps alot for people to do it for you that way you get used to doing it. When you thin k you can do it you should do the back bend and then kind of try and get your legs and arms closer and then with all of you strength try pushing up. Another way is to get your legs stronger and arms by lifting weights.
