Volleyball is the one sport I love with a passion. I connect with it so well and I've played it for 5 years. This year, alot of conflicts came up that make me miss many practices, games, and tournaments. So, I talked to my coach about becoming team manager and helping out in practices and keeping score for the team during some games. Things like that. But, last year I sat out at every game because I was a freshman, and this year would be my time to play in games. It's hard for me, but I'm deciding to go with the team manager or actually try out and have the concequence of my coach really getting mad at me for missing so many pracitces... which one sounds better?

If I were you I would just go with the team manager, because that wouldn't be so good if you kept playing volleyball and kept missing so many practices. That would make the coach think that your not responsible enough to attend your own practices, and I'm sure they wouldn't be very happy about it at all. Plus, you've been playing volleyball for 5 years! Try being a team manager for now, and if you don't like it, then I would try out to play volleyball again. I hope I helped you out hun! If not, I'm really sorry. Good luck with that! Let me know how it goes. Luv ya! And if you have to miss a practice then tell them in advance. (But try to be comitted because you wanted to play and the team needs you!) [ AskBritt's advice column | Ask AskBritt A Question ]

You should schuedule a time witn your coach and explain all of this to him and give him an estimate of how many practices and/or games you might miss each month. If you explain this and talk to him and tell how much the team means to you, he might be okay with you missing that.
Basically, you need to talk to your coach about these two options and decide together which would be best for you and the team.

gooood luck!

It sounds like you really want to play, but you need to do what's right for your team. It would also show your coach that you're dedicated to the team instead of thinking of just yourself. It's more mature and besides you'll have a couple more years to actually play. I hope that helped some. Good luck either way!!!
