Winter Exercises?

Question Posted Thursday November 3 2005, 9:18 pm

What are some good exercises to do in the winter? I know like in warmer seasons you can go outside and play sports and stuff, but when its cold out being outside is not very enjoyable. But I need to keep my work-out going but I'm not one to do crunches or anything more stuff that is fun to do and burns calories. What are some options/activities?

It's coming into winter here in Scotland and I'm facing the same problem - going out for a walk in the wind and rain isn't that much fun!

I suppose it depends on what exercise you're doing now and whether that can be transferred to an indoor venue. If you walk then you could use a treadmill at a gym, for example.

Or you could step up the exercise that you do so that you'll stay warmer - if you walk at the moment, you could try learning to run. Believe me, that'll really keep you warm!

I've got a great pilates dance video that's a whole lot of fun to do. Go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and look at the exercise DVDs. They have everything from bellydancing to learning to dance like Britney Spears; plenty of indoor cardio options.

Your best bet for excersizes in the winter is like a gym or Ymca/Ywca kind of place. They have pleanty of activities for you to choose from to keep active. If you thinking of just staying around the house, then it might be an idea to look into getting one of them excersize steps, medicine ball, or similar items that don't take too much space but can help you out.
