Liquid diets can be extremely dangerous. Unless you are being supervised by a doctor you have no idea if you are getting the correct amount of nutrients. If you are losing a large amount of weight 'in a week' or some other short peroid, chances are you are shedding water. This can lead to a severe loss of electrolytes and starting a chain reaction of many different and possibly severe health problems.
All diets that promise a "get thin quick" scheme are depriving your body in one way or another. As soon as you stop the diet, you are going to gain the weight right back.
If you are serious about weight loss the first step is to acknowledge that this is a long process that involves a LOT of hard work, discipline, and an overall lifestyle change. Your best bet is to talk to a doctor or nutritionist who can help create a program that will be ideally metabolized and not jeapordize your health and well-being.

But I'm sure I can't convince you of this... so try a healthy diet...go vegetarian or exercise more often. Don't give yourself any avoidable health problems. In health class our teacher asked for two types of risky diets. Liquid diets was the first one. They don't work, and they're very dangerous. A little bit of exersise and cutting down on eating portions mixed with a little bit of the right foods will work a hell of alot better and without the nasty side effects.
Plus, 5'6" and 150 is hardly a reason to diet. And if you really feel the need to, go on a HEALTHY DIET.
lunaladyoflight answered Thursday October 27 2005, 4:47 pm: 5'6 and 150? That's not horrible! I wish I was 5'6! Don't put yourself on a liquid diet unless you have digestive problems! And really don't do anything like that unless you consult your doctor. If you're concerned about your weight,or unhappy with your appearance, then try to eat salads and low carb/low sugar foods. For beverages go with Water and a slice of lemon and avoid sodas and juices, they're sugary. But honestly, 5'6 and 150 sounds really good. I say you don't need to diet at all! :)
