My hair is like that too sometimes...no worries...first off, use a good moisture infusing shampoo and conditioner. i use thermasilk and it works really well. then use a leave in conditioner. i use bioterra. then get a good straightener...most ceramics are pretty good, gold plated, or ones that look like ceramic are a no-no. make sure it says ceramic. i use the vidal sassoons ceramic straightener...it gets really hot and stays hot and makes ur hair really shiny and straight. :) ]
Well i have the same problem. What i do is wash it. Then blow dry it but i blow-dry it in sections. First i put it in a half-ponytail and then after it is dry i take some hair off the sides and then blow-dry it and then i take the rest. When you do this it blowdries straight. Then you plung in your straightner. You do the same technique. Divide the hair into a half-ponytail and straighten it. But when you straighten it do it very slowly it makes it straighter that way. When you are done straightening the first section you put that straighten hair ina ponytail that way you keep the straightened and unstraighten hair separate. When you straighten this way you are getting the middle and the layers. If you keep doing it this way your hair learns to be straight and will eventually be trained to be straight. ]
take a shower at night and blow try it or wait till its try and then straighten it then when you wake up for school straighten it again. thats what i do and my hair stays stright ]
well maybe you can get it done professioly but,it might cost alot...

My hair is the same way... the way to cut down on poofiness is to get a better straightener (ceramic cuts down the frizz) i have a chi 2" about $200. And also you can buy Loreal Hot ans Straight ($2 at drug stores) both of these things will make your hair stay straight all day! Also if you want to make it less poofy even when you DON'T straighten it, buy an extreme moisturizing shampoo to keep your hair hydrated (don't blowdry). ]
that sounds like my hair.. umm my hair is wavy nad poffy and well i use a cermic staightener and it works really well. mine is called..truecermic pro its really small and has a heat dial and can be done on wet or dry hair.. its expensive its about $130..but itworks so well!
