If you'll attempt to grasp the fact that humanity is governed first by what I call 'unversal law' before any humanmade laws, you'll come to better appreciate how what we dwell upon, give time, thought, energy and focus to..... we actually 'see' and shall create more of. So if you begin looking for the good in your experiences(good is always there but sometimes we must look harder to find it), you'll be surprised at how easy it becomes to see the good. Start by doing this. Tomorrow, find one good thing about that day. The next day, find two good things about that day. The more you dwell upon the goodness around you the more you'll begin to want to be a positive and optimistic person. Being optimistic comes from one's set of perceptions. What we perceive things to be, is how we see them. Look for the good and you'll regain your higher view of life, which is where you belong anyway, don't you agree? I sincerely hope this helps you.... and I wish you well in your search for becoming less pessie and more possie.... hmmmmmmm, I made a funny or was trying to. Blessings for your success dear heart. AmmoniaImmunity answered Monday October 24 2005, 5:19 pm: Well, if you want to put forth the effort, become a baptist. But if you are like the rest of us, here are some other ways. Listen to some happy druggyish type music like Polyphonic Spree, Electric Light Orchestra, and The Flaming Lips. If music isn't your thing, try to think of the thing that most interests you and get friends to do that with you. If you don't have friends, getting friends in general would make you less pessimistic. Get friends by listening to people and what they say, and if they something that you feel you can add some information to, then do it, but don't be too forceful or pervy, because most people will get weirded out by that.
mylordwon answered Monday October 24 2005, 12:26 pm: Many optimistic people jump into things to quickly and end up in trouble. Many pessimistic people are held back from doing anything because of fear. The ideal is finding a healthy balance. In the big picture of things, both are needed. The optimist invented the airplane and the pessimist invented the parachute. Individually speaking, when you find yourself in a situation that you automatically tend to be pessimistic, stop and think before giving into that "feeling" or "desire". Is there something else that could be worse? Are you going to die if you chose to be happy and positive? This is good you want to be more optimistic, but use wisdom, and then make a choice.
