Any kind of brown tones the red out too much and makes your hair look really bland and plain. Blonde makes it look really bright and happy. Black might look good too, but it would depend on your taste whether you wanted to do that or not. If you have light red hair (more of an orange color) I would suggest not getting streaks at all, most colors would probably look pretty funny. Maybe a light brown would look good with this kind of hair, but before doing anything to lighter red hair I would say to talk to a hair stylist about it. Good luck! xKABOOM answered Tuesday October 18 2005, 7:05 pm: Aggh! Red hair is so beautiful by itself, streaks will just take away from the unique-ness of it. So many people would probably kill to have your hair color. If you really want streaks, make sure you make an appointment at an appropriate salon (with red hair, doing streaks at home will be a nightmare...actually doing streaks at home with any color hair is bad). Ask the stylist what she suggests. I definitly go with getting hi-lights (lighter color) and lo-lights (darker color that helps the hi-lights blend in and look natural). I'm not sure what shade of red hair you have, but a strawberry blonde or a black will look good. [ xKABOOM's advice column | Ask xKABOOM A Question ]
MelikoDee answered Tuesday October 18 2005, 4:21 pm: For red hair, definitely go to a professional to apply streaks.
I would suggest getting a few low-lights and highlights to give your hair personality and definition. That means you would have some blonde streaks and some streaks darker than your hair colour.
ByReasonofUse answered Tuesday October 18 2005, 12:50 pm: I'm not an expert on style, but I don't like to turn away questions. Here's my thoughts.
It depends on the length of your hair and the depth of the color. If your hair is a bright red, a softer, blonde streak would look better to me, especially if it's longer. If you have short hair that is a darker shade of red, then a dark brown or black would look good.
Gloworm answered Tuesday October 18 2005, 12:41 pm: If you have proper red hairie. the colour of a carrot and want to dye it don't put streaks in it coz that will look naff. It's all or nothing but if you're afraid to take the plunge then try a one night colour and if you are lpeased then you can go back and get a colour that lasts longer.
If on the other hand your hair is dark fed ie. sort of brown then nearly every colour works but don't go for bright blonde coz that is so out!!!If you are thinkin of natural hair colours en go for a brown or a burgundy or even copper. If you are going for a vibrant colour then don't go for green,or pink
