Heart problems

Question Posted Thursday October 13 2005, 8:59 pm

First of all, i'm not asking this to be told to go to the doctor. I just need advice from people who might now what this is. Anyways, during the summer i had like a racing heart beat for two months and i felt weak but really nervous. I would fall asleep and then jump all of a sudden after like five minutes. It eventually went away, and last night it started all over. I could tell the symptoms. I felt really bad in the morning. Everybody thought i was sick and my heart beat was abnormally fast again. It eventually calmed down but i now it's still there. It's actually getting worse as i'm typing this. Does ANYBODY know what this could be or what could happen as a result to this???? My parents wont let me go to the doctor and i dont think the school nurse can help me. I have no medicine to take or anything. Please help me y'all!!! (Sorry its so long but i need help...)

Are you on medications? Because TONS of meds make your blood pressure EXTREMELY high, which races up your heart beat.

Your parents shouldn't be able to prevent you from getting medical care.

It sounds like you have a definite reason to be concerned - whether a bigger problem exists or not, you're experiencing a lot of stress and worry.

Go to the school nurse. Explain the situation. She should be able to then talk to your parents and explain why you need to see a doctor.

It could be so many things, and there should be no messing around when it comes to your heart.

Tell your parents to get you to the doctor. It's probably an anxiety attack.

Granted I'm not a doctor by a long shot, but what it sounds like you are experiencing and this would be an idea for you to get looked at for is anxiety/panic disorder.

Your parents wont let you go to the doctor when you're having heart problems? You have horrible parents, I'm sorry to say it. If you are getting weak and sick, and your heart is the cause, tell your parents to become responsible and let you seek professional help.

My dear, the school nurse is going to know a lot more than your average 13 year old here, no offense to them. :)

It could be so many things I wouldn't even want to venture a guess. I do know one thing for certain. If your heart does anything out of the ordinary...get thee to a doctor ASAP.

Even if it takes the school nurse to tell your parents to take you.

What happened to me wasn't exactly like this, but I was pretty darned scared.

My heart didn't race, it skipped. Basically it would stop beating for a little bit and then have one BIG beat that basically was like "Ka-Thump!" throughout my whole body. I was about 20, and it was horrible. It nearly drove me mad. (I eventually found out they were called PVCs "PreVentricular Contractions")

I know these aren't your symptoms, but since I had this for a year, I found out quite a bit about heart problems.

First thing I did was cut out caffeine. I only drank non-caffeinated sodas and no caffeinated coffee or tea. That might help for some people. It might help for you. It didn't really help for me because mine were caused by something else.

After a year of suffering, I finally figured out that it was NutraSweet causing the heart problems. If you drink or eat anything with NutraSweet in it, I recommend that you stop for a while and see if you get better. Actually, I recommend that you stop forever. NutraSweet aka Aspartame also caused me hearing problems and memory problems.
