Question Posted Wednesday September 28 2005, 5:03 pm
Now I'm a columnist and I would usually look down on a question like this but I really need help!
Ok, for English class we have to write a 5 paragraph essay on a famous quote. My quote is "Insist on yourself never imitate.. Every great man is unique"
I'm having a very hard time thinking of 3 reasons why I would support this quote. Like I have ideas it's just that they are hard to explain.
So if possible can a few people please leave there interpretation of this quote. Or at least give me some sense of direction on how to have a strong argument about this essay topic.
Additional info, added Wednesday September 28 2005, 5:50 pm: Also it would be helpful if you could give me 3 reasons why you should never imitate someone. I have my views on it, but my teacher feels that they are inappropriate for a school essay.. Want to answer more questions in the Work & School category? 1)you should alwyas be yourself
2) conformatiy is not a good thing
3) only do what you like not what others do

I agree with the quote, "Insist on yourself never imitate.. Every great man is unique" for many reasons. I think its very true that we all should be our own person. This is the simple reason that God made us different so we would do our own thing.People should realize that we all are unique and we should embrace that. We dont want a million of the same person walking around. So i would encourage people to embrace their talents and let them be known. Theres enough space in this world for all of us to be different.

2."insist on yourself" Just be yourself. If we all went around acting alike, where would that get us?
3. Do you like having people copy you? Exactly, So why should you copy someone. Everyone has a purpose here. You have to find your own instead of doing as someone else does.

1. He said "Every Great Man Is Unique" not "every man" therefore, if you're not great, you must look upon others to be influenced in what you do.
2. This man is sexist. No women are involved? What an asshole!
