Question Posted Wednesday September 21 2005, 11:03 am

Well my period is very irregular. Like The last time I had one was 4 months ago. It's always like that, sometimes it can go 7 months without one. I don't really mind it because it's less worry for me...but once every month ill get the cramps but no blood or anything, but then again it is a worry because Im always afraid of when itll be comming and I have no idea when, its unpredictable. But I was wondering if I could still get pregnant even though I dont have a period much? What do you think could possibly be wrong? Such factors I have considered would be stress, anxiety, depression, irregular eating patterns, could vegetarianism have something to do with it?

You might have a problem with your uterus. I would see a gynocoligist as soon as possible. I have a friend liek this who doesn't get it for ectremely loing periods of time, and she isn't able to have childrne.

There is always the possibility of getting pregnant. Never assume you can't get pregnant just because of irregularity. That is a mistake you will regret.

Cramps without any blood concerns me a little. All the factors you've listed could have quite an effect on your period, especially if they are all present at once. It takes a lot of energy for a woman to ovulate and it sounds like your body isn't getting what it needs.

See a doctor about the cramps and a nutritionist about your diet. Although irregularity isn't normally a big deal, your case seems to have some serious causes and risks.

Take care of yourself.

well i had the same thing goign for a while. i wouldnt have my period for MONTHS, but i owuld get hte MAJOR PMS!!! and my doctor told me it could be stress levels, i was kind of over weight and i lost 15 pounds and it started again. irregualer eating can affect it, vegetariansim i think can but im not sure. talk to your doctor is my advice basically. maybe you need a pap smear (good luck to you) and see if there is somethign wrong with your insides. enjoy and please rate me if you wish.

Once you have your first period you can always get pregnant. Irregular periods are also a sign that you MAY be at RISK of an ulser.

You're better off talking to a doctor about this, if nothing is wrong with you tho doctors usually put you on birth control to regulate your period.

First, ALWAYS assume that you could get pregnant.

Second, all of the factors you listed could certainly contribute towards making your period irregular. But it could just natually be that way, too. You may want to see if irregularity is common in your family.

It sounds as if your irregularity is rather extreme, so it would probably be wise to schedule an appointment with your OB/GYN and discuss your questions with her. Just to set your mind at rest, if nothing else.
