Can anyone recommend any good books? Preferably mystery, romance, teen, or psychological books that are fairly easy to read? If so, can you give a brief description of what it's about. Thank you.
Ignatz answered Friday April 16 2010, 1:29 pm: Paul Zindel's books are very good, though a bit dated. I'd especially recommend "The Undertaker's Gone Bananas!" It's about a 14-year-old boy and his best girl friend who figure out that his neighbor is a murderer. Funny and exciting, with a good romantic subplot.
A more contemporary choice would be Cory Doctorow's "Little Brother". It's about a high school senior who runs afoul of Homeland Security after a terrorist attack in San Francisco, and becomes a fugitive. You can download a free copy at craphound.com. TheTeenGirl answered Wednesday September 14 2005, 10:52 pm: I am reading a book called
The Lovely Bones
Its about a girl who was only 14 when she was killed and she watches over her family. And she watches her killer, and the guy she was dating at the time, and thats basically it. It gets suspenseful, and it keeps you wanting to read.
The best thing about it, is that its like no other, it desribes her in heaven, and its out of the ordinary.
Lachiquitaloca9 answered Monday September 12 2005, 4:10 pm: Definitely a good one to start off with is Da Vinci Code, it's interesting and an easy read. IT's a suspense book and I don't want to reveal anything, but it involves conspiracy and the Catholic church and it's just really interesting.
Romance, I would always suggest good old Jane Austen. Old fashioned, but so good. They're written in a different style of English, but once you get started it's not too different. They're all basically the same. But Pride and Prejudice is my favorite...it's actually what Bridget Jones' Diary is based on, so it makes it even more interesting to read. Clueless was based on her book Emma.
Mystery...I'm not a big mystery reader, but I love John Grisham, while they're basically about Lawyers, it's not all court room talk.
Teen books...I saw someone mention Christopher Pike...I read like all of those. They were good and very easy.
I would really advise against teen books though since you are a Senior already. Challenge yourself to more difficult reads, you'd be surprised how much easier it'll get. Right now I'm reading Zorro by Isabel Allende...it's really good so far and not a difficult read at all. Start off with Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons. Every and any girl will be moved by this book - its awesome. Its about four girls that are best friends, and they have to spend a summer apart for the first time, so they promise to keep a pair of jeans that they all wear [one girl keeps it for 2 weeks, then passes it on] to have good memories in. Its better than it sounds.
The Gossip Girl series - its fabulous. Its about rich teenagers in the Upper East Side of New York and how they live, and a girl on the internet posts about their lives. Its so awesome.
Shopaholic & Sister - hilarious. About a girl who is in wedded bliss, well she thinks it is, and then discovers she has a long lost sister. And she's all like 'YAY ME AND MY SISTER CAN GO SHOPPING' and her sister turns out to hate shopping. And this woman is ADDICTED to shopping.
P.S I Love You - one of the most moving stories I have ever read. About a woman whose husband died, leaving her sad but with good memories. A few months or so after he dies [cant remember how long exactly], she gets a package in the mail from him [he had plannned way before he died to have it sent to her when he died] - with an envelope for every month, each month has a new task to accomplish, and all the while her friends and family are helping. Its awesome.

I know they're in the children's section, but I am also a senior in high school and I do have a high reading level and I LOVE these books.
Gossip Girl-It's about teenagers in New York and there's a girl posting about their lives on the internet. It's really good!!
Fushigi Yugi-umm...it's easy...because it's a graphic novel! *cheesy grin*
